I glued my eyes to it, calling out its name with emotion... Although time has faded the color of the medicine and many of the photos have turned yellow, everything in the photos is so close and familiar that it makes me tear up and emotional.

I don’t know who bought the album to preserve these priceless memories, nor do I remember who initiated the practice of hiring a photographer to take pictures whenever the family had important events back then. All I know for sure is that when we look at these old photos, we are all happy to relive a time that has long passed.
On the first page of the album was a photo of the extended family on the first day of Tet. At that time, my grandparents were still healthy. I was being held in my mother's arms. My father stood beside me, smiling brightly with his eyes shining. The ancient apricot tree at the edge of the yard was full of flowers. I counted 15 people in total and I was the youngest.
Gently turning each page of the album, I began to mobilize all my senses to imagine the time when each photo was created. I paused for a long time at the photo taken at my youngest sister’s wedding. At that time, I trotted after the adults, and whenever I heard the sound of firecrackers, I hid behind my mother. The wedding procession had to take a ferry across the river. Next to the riverbank, there was a banyan tree providing shade, and several flower-decorated boats were waiting. My youngest sister hugged her grandmother, crying, reluctant to follow her husband.
Old photos seem simple and ordinary, but they contain a whole sky of memories; containing both affection, warmth and difficulties, sorrows. Everyone in life has memories, whether happy or sad. Memorable moments, if not captured in time, will pass by and disappear. Therefore, preserving love and cherishing each beautiful mark by taking photos has become a habit of many people. Especially today, besides professional cameras, smartphones have also become a useful tool for taking photos, helping people preserve every moment in life. Then, later when looking at them, the whole memory is revived. This is Ca Mau cape taken in the summer of 2019, this is Dai Yem waterfall in Moc Chau taken the year before last. And here, Chu Dang Ya peak taken during the wild sunflower festival. And then important anniversaries of the year, the opening ceremony...
Even when I’m feeling down, posting a photo on social media can help ease my mood. I remember in my old school yearbook, there were a few photos taken during a camping trip; everyone was dark-skinned and skinny. There was a photo taken on the final day of school, everyone’s eyes were red. Every time we had a class reunion or a gathering of friends, we would recall it with a whole world of nostalgia.
Photos taken at different times are not simply to capture moments but also to preserve love. One day, they will not just be old photos lying quietly in an album or in the phone memory but will become a soulful evidence that makes us nostalgic and remember. Every moment in life, every memory that is cultivated over time always accompanies each of us thanks to the stories told from the photos.
