Lieutenant General presents souvenirs from the battle of Buon Ma Thuot 50 years ago

On the evening of April 6, the program "Epic of Peace" was held at 3 locations: the Studio of the Military Radio and Television Center (Hanoi); the Reunification Hall - Independence Palace Historical Site (HCMC) and the Buon Ma Thuot Victory Monument (Dak Lak province).

All three points of contact were important in the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising. In particular, Hanoi symbolized the direction and strategic determination of the Politburo, the Party Central Committee and Uncle Ho for the resistance war against the US to save the country and the support of the great rear for the great frontline in the nation's long-term resistance war against the US.

Buon Ma Thuot City symbolizes the Buon Ma Thuot Victory (March 10, 1975) which was the opening battle and created a historic turning point for the Great Spring Victory of 1975.

The Independence Palace Historical Site (HCMC) is a place that marks the sacred moment of our nation in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign on April 30, 1975. This is one of the symbols of victory, peace, unity and territorial integrity of Vietnam.

The program "Epic of Peace" is built on a large scale, elaborate in content and art, wishing to recreate in an emotional and realistic way the arduous, sacrificial but extremely heroic journey of the Vietnamese people; the journey is like a tragic and glorious epic.

In addition to impressive artistic performances, the program also brings stories and tragic, emotional memories of historical witnesses during the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising.

At the Dak Lak bridge, Lieutenant General, Doctor, Hero of the Armed Forces Doan Sinh Huong (76 years old), former Commander of the Armored Corps, former Commander of Military Region 4, shared his emotions during the battle of Buon Ma Thuot.

Lieutenant General Doan Sinh Huong, as Captain of Company 9 (Battalion 3, Regiment 273), commanded the tank formation to enter the center of Buon Ma Thuot town, heroically winning a glorious victory.

This was a key and important battle, opening the Central Highlands campaign, creating an important historical turning point, opening up a strategic opportunity to win the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising.

"After 50 years, I returned here to the city of Buon Ma Thuot, which is being renovated and developed. I am very moved because today's development achievements all have the efforts and blood of our predecessors," Lieutenant General Doan Sinh Huong shared.

At the program, Lieutenant General Doan Sinh Huong presented to Dak Lak province 4 helmets specially designed to equip T-54 tank troops, when he commanded tank number 980 in the battle of Buon Ma Thuot exactly 50 years ago.

It is known that tank number 980 commanded by Lieutenant General Doan Sinh Huong in the battle years ago has been used as the symbol of the Buon Ma Thuot Victory Monument.
