BHG - Vi Xuyen district is a cultural convergence of 19 ethnic groups, each with its own unique characteristics, creating a rich and diverse cultural picture. In recent years, the district has paid special attention to preserving cultural heritage associated with tourism development, contributing to improving economic life and promoting local identity.
Vi Xuyen owns many historical relics and national-level scenic spots, reflecting the rich culture and traditions of this land. Among them, typical relics such as Sung Khanh Pagoda, Binh Lam Pagoda, and Nam Dau Pagoda not only have spiritual value but also preserve many valuable ancient relics, typically the Sung Khanh Pagoda stele and Binh Lam Pagoda bell. Besides, the district also has outstanding scenic spots such as Dan Poong Cave (Bach Ngoc Commune) and Tham Luong Cave (Minh Tan Commune), attracting tourists who are passionate about exploring nature. In particular, Vi Xuyen is also a sacred land with the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs' Cemetery and the Temple of Heroes and Martyrs at the height of 468, Thanh Thuy Commune. These places are not only places to pay tribute to previous generations but also contribute to educating the revolutionary tradition for the younger generation, becoming meaningful destinations that attract a large number of tourists to visit and commemorate. In 2024, Vi Xuyen district attracted nearly 700,000 visitors, reaching 100% of the plan and increasing 47.9% over the same period last year.

In order to preserve and promote the value of cultural heritage, the district has implemented a project to restore and preserve associated with tourism development. Priority is given to the restoration of national relics, revolutionary historical relics and works at risk of degradation. At the same time, the district also focuses on building and preserving community cultural tourism villages, combined with eco-tourism and typical tourism products, creating a series of attractive destinations to attract tourists. The district has invested in developing community tourism, typically in Cao Bo commune, where there is a cultural exchange between the Dao, Tay and Mong ethnic groups. Here, traditional festivals such as Lunar New Year and the Harvest Festival are still maintained, along with folk art activities such as love duet singing and bamboo dancing, attracting the attention of tourists. Realizing the tourism potential, 10 households in Lung Tao village have developed homestay services, serving the needs of eating and resting of tourists. In particular, village art troupes regularly perform traditional folk songs, bringing unique cultural experiences to visitors.
In addition, Xa Phin village, Phuong Tien commune is becoming a key cultural tourism village with the goal of preserving the traditional cultural space of the Dao ethnic group. Visitors here can experience the terraced fields, admire the Tay Con Linh mountain range with an altitude of 2,428 m above sea level, enjoy salmon specialties and explore the ancient Shan Tuyet tea hills with beautiful natural landscapes such as streams, waterfalls... Every year, Xa Phin village welcomes over 5,000 visitors to visit and experience.
Ms. Bui Phuong Thao, a tourist from Hanoi, shared: “I am really impressed with the natural scenery here. When I came to Cao Bo, I had the opportunity to participate in traditional activities such as cooking and cultural exchanges with local people. In particular, I also enjoyed attractive specialties such as smoked pork, grilled stream fish and corn wine with yeast leaves. The people here are very conscious of preserving their cultural identity, which not only attracts tourists but also contributes to preserving and spreading traditional cultural values.”
Along with that, many classes teaching Tinh lute, Then singing, Coi singing, and traditional professions have been opened, attracting the participation of a large number of students and people. Traditional craft villages and establishments producing and processing handicrafts and souvenirs have been expanded in scale, such as: Dao ethnic blacksmith village in Cao Bo commune, Thuong Son, Quang Ngan; Tay and Dao ethnic brocade weaving village in Thuan Hoa, Minh Tan, Kim Thach, Kim Linh, Viet Lam communes; Dao ethnic silversmith village in Cao Bo commune, Thuong Son, Quang Ngan, etc. Thereby, contributing to the preservation of good traditional cultural values that are facing the risk of being lost.
Developing tourism associated with preserving traditional culture not only promotes the local economy but also contributes to preserving and spreading the unique identity of ethnic groups, creating a special attraction for domestic and foreign tourists. Therefore, the government, localities and people need to raise awareness and responsibility in preserving heritage, join hands to promote cultural values, turn heritage into sustainable tourism products, contribute to economic development and promote local image.
