Today (April 6), the updated coffee price in the domestic market is 127,100 VND/kg, down 3,900 VND/kg compared to the previous day and down 5,200 VND/kg compared to the end of last week.
Meanwhile, the price of Robusta on the London - UK floor was 5,112 USD/ton, down 225 USD/ton and Arabica on the New York - US floor was 8,060 USD/ton, down 320 USD/ton compared to the end of last week, for the same delivery period in May 2025.
Coffee prices fell last week mainly due to the US imposing massive reciprocal tariffs globally and planning to impose strong tariffs on partners that cause a large trade deficit for the US.
According to guidance from the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the additional tax rate applied to goods cleared or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption from 12:01 a.m. on April 5 (US time) (except for exemptions) is subject to an additional tax rate of 10% based on the value of the goods.
This is in addition to, and does not replace, other applicable taxes and fees.
In the exemption cases, it is noteworthy that shipments that have been unloaded and are en route to the US before April 5 will be exempt from the additional 10% tax but must only be declared until May 27 to prevent importers from taking advantage of the exception.
Businesses need bills of lading and shipping contracts as evidence to apply.
Thus, coffee exporting enterprises can rest assured with the shipments in transit, the rest still have to wait, especially the milestone of April 9, when the corresponding tax is applied and from April 5, the additional tax is applied uniformly.

Therefore, the coffee market will continue to hold its breath waiting for new tax-related policies in the markets.
Regarding Vietnam's coffee exports, it is noteworthy that March export statistics show that Vietnam has increased export volume and high export prices.
According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), coffee exports in March reached 183,168 tons of coffee, with an export turnover of over 1.01 billion USD, up 5.8% in volume and 73.4% in turnover over the same period last year.
The average export price of green coffee in March reached 5,529 USD/ton, of which Robusta reached 5,413 USD/ton.
In the first 3 months of 2025, Vietnam exported about 530,000 tons of coffee, with an export turnover of nearly 3 billion USD, down 8.5% in volume but up 55.4% in turnover over the same period last year.
