'Noble' milk grapes from expensive to cheapest fruit on the market

Milk grapes have been on the Vietnamese market for a few years now, but they are still hot. At this time, the “noble” milk grapes from China continue to dominate online markets, spill out onto sidewalks, and are sold everywhere on street stalls.

Notably, the giant bunches of milk grapes with glossy green fruit that used to only serve the rich have now become cheap, common goods.

Milk grapes are packed in crates or boxes and are commonly priced at 30,000-40,000 VND/kg, and some places even sell them for only 25,000 VND/kg. (See details)

Many people 'line up' to buy the world's most expensive Japanese grapes at 12 million VND/kg

While cheap Chinese “noble” milk grapes are flooding the market, many people are still lining up and putting down deposits to buy a type of Japanese grape that is considered the most expensive in the world.

In contrast to the super cheap price of Chinese milk grapes, some high-end imported fruit stores are selling Japanese Ruby Roman grapes for 9-11 million VND/bunch or 12 million VND/kg. This is also the most expensive grape variety in the Vietnamese market.

Ruby Roman is a famous grape variety in Japan. In a recent auction, a bunch of Ruby Roman grapes fetched the highest price of 260 million VND. (See details)

Thai jackfruit prices rise to highest level in more than 3 months

Thai jackfruit prices are increasing rapidly. According to Knowledge & Life , compared to about 1 month ago, Thai jackfruit prices have increased by 10,000-12,000 VND/kg and are at their highest level in over 3 months.

Currently, the price of grade 1 Thai jackfruit (from 9kg and up, meeting export standards) is sold by farmers in many places to traders and jackfruit purchasing warehouses at 42,000-43,000 VND/kg; grade 2 (from 7 to under 9 kg/fruit), the price is from 21,000-22,000 VND/kg, grade 3 is 12,000 VND/kg. This price is 4 times higher than in May 2024.

'Noble' seafood competes to flood the market, some are as cheap as vegetables

Never before have so many “noble” seafood products flooded the market as they do now, with some items being as cheap as vegetables. For example, small live abalones cost from 10,000 to 15,000 VND each.

Meanwhile, Australian lobster tails with 4-5 tails/kg are being sold for 300,000-340,000 VND/kg. Or, Shanghai hairy crabs, instead of being priced from several hundred thousand to nearly 1 million VND/each as before, are now commonly sold for 50,000-70,000 VND/each, 100-140 grams/each.

Explaining why the prices of “noble” seafood are getting cheaper, Ms. Ngo Phuong Lien (an online seafood seller) said that according to the market rules, the more supply, the cheaper the price and vice versa. For example, in the past, abalone was caught naturally, the goods were scarce so the price was super expensive. Now there are many areas where abalone is farmed with large output, the price is also cheaper.

In addition, instead of only making high-end products, people also proactively cultivate many different types to serve customers in different segments. Therefore, with abalone or hairy crab, besides the expensive ones, there are also "cheap" products that are sold by wholesalers on the online market today. (See details)

Room prices are rising

The need for stable accommodation is always the top priority for students who live far from home. According to Thanh Nien Newspaper, this makes the price of accommodation in areas with many universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City "heat up" gradually during the student admission season.

According to data from Batdongsan.com.vn, increased demand has caused rental prices in some areas to tend to increase from the second quarter of 2024. For example, in Ward 9, District 5 (HCMC), which is near many universities, the common rental price in the second quarter of 2024 is 6 million VND/month, an increase of 50% compared to the same period last year.

Some landlords in Hanoi said they increased rents by 10-15% because real estate prices have increased, so rents need to increase accordingly. Similarly, the rental market in Ho Chi Minh City has also seen a trend of increasing rents in recent months, which has significantly affected the psychology and behavior of tenants.

Flight tickets for September 2nd holiday: Some routes are sold out, others are sky-high priced

According to VietNamNet reporters, right before the holiday, on crowded flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to famous tourist destinations such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Quy Nhon, etc. during the 4-day National Day holiday, some flights were sold out; some flights still had tickets but the number of flights and seats was limited and the prices were sky-high.

The difference compared to the April 30-May 1 holiday is that because there is more time for children to have summer vacation, families choose to travel by car more, so air tickets for this route are very slow. During the September 2 holiday, because it is close to the new school year, flying is chosen more. (See details)

On the other hand, passengers have also chosen weekdays to travel.
