The Steering Committee for the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses of the district and commune, together with representatives of Mrs. Phan Thi De's family, started construction of a new house.

Settle down and make a living

Mrs. Phan Thi De, Huu Chien hamlet, Huu Dinh commune, was so happy that she could not finish her speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for her new house. She has two children, but her daughter was infected with toxic chemicals, and she is old and weak, and her income depends on the coconut trees around the house. “Before, I was still healthy and had to do whatever people hired me to do to have money to take care of my children. Now that I am old and weak, sometimes I can do it, sometimes I can’t. My mother and I live in an empty house with holes in the front and back, which is very worrying, but what can we do? Now that the government at all levels has supported the cost of rebuilding the house, I am so happy,” Mrs. Phan Thi De expressed.

Ms. Dinh Thi Dieu Hue, Tan Quy hamlet, Tan Phu commune, was moved when she received her new house in the first days of the new year. Ms. Hue said that there is no greater joy than now, she, her daughter and grandchild have a spacious, cozy house, life is like turning a new page. As a single mother, without a job, without land, and not very stable mentally, Ms. Hue and her daughter have a rather difficult life. The economy depends on the money her daughter earns from working as a worker, but it is not enough to spend, so there is a shortage. "Life is difficult, I never thought I would have money to build a house, living in a dilapidated old house, now I have support so that my children and I can have the house of our dreams, I am very grateful to the Party and the State", Ms. Dinh Thi Dieu Hue shared.

Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Phu Commune, Ho Thi Ngoc Cam, said: To implement the policy of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, the commune established a Steering Committee and developed an implementation plan within the political system and socio-political organizations to create unity in implementation. On that basis, Tan Phu reviewed households in need of building and repairing houses and sent a list to the district sector to survey and finalize the number of households eligible for support for construction and repair. The locality also mobilized resources from philanthropists and benefactors inside and outside the commune to support people. In addition to support from higher levels, Tan Phu also mobilized funds for 2 households under construction. Currently, there are 30 households in the commune in need of construction and repair, however, some households do not meet the conditions.
