Studying at a coffee shop to avoid the heat and 'gather motivation'
Amid the hot weather and rotating power outages on days close to the exam, Vu Ngoc Huy, a 12th grade student at Nguyen Du High School, Thai Binh, chose to go to a coffee shop to review his lessons and avoid the heat with friends.
"When studying in groups, I often get distracted by topics unrelated to studying. However, studying in groups helps us exchange opinions, comment and evaluate each other's work, thereby identifying basic mistakes and promptly correcting them," Huy shared.
Le Thi Huyen Trang, a 12th grade student at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School in Binh Duong, often goes to coffee shops in the Ho Chi Minh City National University urban area to review her lessons. The female student shared that studying here gives her more motivation to strive because she can see her seniors studying and working.
Reviewing the last days of school at a coffee shop is the choice of many students to gain motivation.
"Going to a coffee shop to study in groups increases the effectiveness of our review because when we have any questions or don't understand anything, we can discuss it immediately to solve it. Besides, we check each other's papers, helping us remember the mistakes we still make so we can find ways to fix them together. To maximize my concentration, I often wear headphones to study, avoiding outside noises so I'm not affected much," Huyen Trang shared.
Similarly, Vo Minh Hieu, a 12th grade student at Nguyen Thien Thanh High School for the Gifted, Tra Vinh, commented: "I only spent less than 50,000 VND to have a cool study space with air conditioning, lights, tables and chairs of suitable size, suitable for studying and also drinks. At this stage, what we need is to review basic knowledge in general, so studying in groups is a good choice, while reviewing lessons, if there is something we don't understand, we can help each other."
Students focus on reviewing for the high school graduation exam taking place next week.
Create conditions for students to review
Studying in groups during the last days of the exam preparation period is considered positive by students because it not only helps them review knowledge but also helps them preserve beautiful memories of their student days.
Bui Tri Dung, a student majoring in biomedical engineering at the International University - Ho Chi Minh City National University, shared: "The year I took my high school graduation exam, I often went to coffee shops to review with my friends and when I went to university, I still kept this habit."
According to Dung, students often choose to study at coffee shops instead of the library because the library must maintain absolute order, making it difficult to discuss. The space of a coffee shop is more open so students can easily exchange ideas. "In addition, when everyone in the shop is focused on studying and working, the 'crowd effect' will give you more motivation to focus on studying, this will be a space for you to focus on studying more easily than at home," Dung shared.
In order to support the spirit of students who come to the shop to study for exams during these days, Mr. Huynh Dat Chuong, a final year student at Ho Chi Minh City Banking University - manager of Co Ba Coffee & Tea, dormitory branch B of Ho Chi Minh City National University, said that the shop has prepared a small corner of candy for students to take.
Candy is prepared to support the spirit of the students.
"Currently, the shop usually welcomes and serves about 10-15 students to review for exams every day. In my personal opinion, I think what students need now is not only knowledge but mostly spiritual support. This small candy corner is taken from the shop's revenue as a gift to accompany and encourage students in the upcoming exams," said Mr. Chuong.
