These are 4 of the 12 works and initiatives that were honored and awarded the Ho Hao Hon Award 2024 tonight, March 22.
Let the smile spread
Over the past year, the colorful playground with seesaws, swings, wooden horses made from tires, iron bars, etc. located in the school yard has become a playground for students of An Nhon Tay Primary School (Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City). This is one of dozens of children's playgrounds implemented by the Youth Union of An Lac Automobile Mechanical Enterprise (under the Youth Union of Saigon Transport Mechanical Corporation - Samco) from 2018 to present.
Sharing about these meaningful projects, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of An Lac Mechanical Automobile Enterprise, said that more than 7 years ago, during the process of collecting and gathering scrap, the union members and youth of the enterprise realized that some scrap could be recycled to build playgrounds for children in difficult areas.
From the initial idea, the union members and youth of the enterprise started to implement the solution of utilizing the surplus materials after the production process of passenger cars, buses, and old tires to create the first youth project at the Cu Chi Automobile Factory. After that, the union members and youth of the enterprise continued to complete many projects to serve children in difficult areas in Ho Chi Minh City and some other provinces and cities.
According to Mr. Phong, the children's playgrounds have promoted the creative ideas of young workers in design. The play equipment has diverse designs, ensuring safety and durability. "Seeing the smiles of the children when playing at the newly completed projects, we feel more motivated and confident to carry out many more projects," Mr. Phong expressed.
We also saw bright smiles in the “Spring Bus” program every spring, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Student Support Center. Initiated and implemented annually since 2002, the program has helped more than 60,000 disadvantaged students reunite with their families during the Tet holiday.
If from 2002 to 2004, the center implemented two main activities: supporting students to buy discounted train tickets, cheap bus tickets and giving bus tickets to students to return home for Tet, then in 2005, when there were socialized resources, the program organized trips to take disadvantaged students from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to the Central and Central Highlands provinces.
Up to now, the program has spread love and sharing to create a warm spring, a happy and joyful Tet holiday for everyone and every family.
Open learning space
After class time, student Nguyen Phuc Cat Tuong (Ho Chi Minh City University of Education) turned on her phone and went to https://vle.hcmue.edu.vn/ to learn about “Quick information on the results of the 11th Congress of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the 12th National Youth Union Congress”. For the past few years, Tuong has always studied and learned political theory lessons and resolutions in this way. This approach does not bore Tuong, because of the novelty and creativity in each lesson and especially the ability to take the initiative in studying time, not having to sit in the hall all day to listen to lectures.
“Promoting political and ideological education for union members and youth through studying political theory lessons No. 5” is an initiative of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education Youth Union. In addition to the 4 lessons conducted under the guidance of the Central Youth Union Secretariat and the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education Youth Union has deployed additional video recording of lesson No. 5 in the political theory lessons for each semester.
Thereby strengthening political and ideological education and providing current information and new content related to important political events at all levels related to the work of the Youth Union and Association for union members and young people. According to Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education Youth Union Nguyen Vu Hoai An, this is one of the initiatives to deploy the study of political theory lessons for union members of the Central Youth Union Secretariat, while implementing the policy of digital transformation in the work of the Youth Union.
The form of learning is to record, edit and create educational materials in the form of videos on the system "Ho Chi Minh City University of Education Online Training Portal" (https://vle.hcmue.edu.vn/). The assessment of learning outcomes and the issuance of certificates are also carried out online on the system. From 2020 to May 2023, 13,758 union members have completed studying political theory lessons.
On the occasion of the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, Tre Publishing House launched many new publications of the Ho Chi Minh Heritage Bookcase. The bookcase was launched in 1999, after 25 years of implementation, there are more than 60 books about President Ho Chi Minh with many valuable books. In addition, since 2023, Tre Publishing House has digitized and published the entire set of e-books of the Ho Chi Minh Heritage Bookcase.
The Ho Hao Hon Award was established in 2002 to award groups and individuals with new initiatives, successful application in practice, or research topics on youth work that contribute to the development of the Youth Union.
