Google users will soon have a virtual assistant to help with gardening, cooking, and gym work

Google said it will soon allow users who sign up for the Gemini service to create custom chatbots that can act as gym companions, cooking assistants, editors, writers, etc.

Users can give these chatbots, called Gems, distinct personalities and expertise by describing what they want.

Previously, in May 2024, Google first introduced Gems at the I/O event. During the presentation, Google said that users can create a Gem that is "knowledgeable, friendly, and comfortable" and helps them plan their garden care.

For those who don't want to create a custom chatbot, Google offers a number of pre-built Gems, including learning coach, idea creator, career coach, coding partner, and editor chatbots.

Google is rolling out Gems to Gemini Advanced, Gemini Business, and Gemini Enterprise users on mobile and desktop in over 150 countries and most languages.

According to tech experts, Google's launch of Gems is likely to catch up with OpenAI, which has been allowing users to create custom chatbots for months. OpenAI now also allows sharing of custom GPTs through its store.

Recently, Google introduced many new features called Help Me Write for Gemini - an AI tool that supports email writing, helping users complete emails more professionally.

Previously, at the Made by Google 2024 event, the group had an impressive debut of Gemini Live - a new AI assistant with superior conversational capabilities, replacing the traditional Google Assistant of Android.

Gemini Live is Gemini AI's voice-based chat app that promises to deliver a more natural and seamless user interaction experience. With the ability to understand context, adjust tone, and answer follow-up questions, Gemini Live represents a significant advancement in natural language processing technology.

Google places special emphasis on security, pledging that user data will be securely processed in the cloud or on the device, ensuring maximum privacy.

While Gemini Live has many great features, it still lacks the ability to handle multimodal input, something Google will likely update in the near future.

By integrating Gemini Live into new devices, Google clearly shows its ambition to compete strongly in the virtual assistant market, especially with OpenAI's advanced voice mode.
