Kinhtedothi - On the last working day of the year before the Lunar New Year holiday, tens of thousands of people left the capital to return to their hometowns for Tet. Many roads in the capital were congested early. Bus stations also recorded an increase in the number of passengers.

On streets like Nguyen Trai, Tran Phu, Giai Phong, Nguyen Xien… vehicles jostle each other, inching forward.

The Tet holiday lasts 9 days, many people take the initiative to travel, making traffic pressure in the capital easier than the Lunar New Year holiday in previous years.

Mr. Tran Dinh Thanh, residing in Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province, said: "I proactively asked for half a day off early to travel back to my hometown. Traveling on Ring Road 3 is crowded, moving slowly but there is no traffic jam. Traveling from Cau Giay to Phap Van takes 30 minutes."

Arriving at the bus station to return home for Tet, Ms. Le Thi Luong, from Thanh Hoa, said: “I booked my ticket a week in advance, and as soon as I got to the station, there was a bus back, so I didn’t have to wait too long. This year, the Tet holiday is long, so I will return to the capital earlier to avoid the crowds.”

The beltway routes recorded prolonged congestion.
