Mr. Nguyen Manh Dung, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of the Elderly Association of Ca Mau province, said: “To effectively implement the coordination program, in most of the documents guiding and directing the implementation of the association's work, the Executive Committee of the Elderly Association of the province has directed all levels of the association to proactively coordinate with the relevant authorities at the same level, mobilize cadres, members and the elderly to comply with the policy and set an example in managing and protecting the living environment in the community and in residential areas. Create conditions for cadres, members and the elderly to promote their role in environmental protection work in the locality.”
In addition, the Provincial Elderly Association has a policy of coordinating with authorities at all levels and functional sectors to strengthen the propaganda of the Party's policies and the State's policies through many forms. From association activities to seminars, hanging banners, distributing leaflets, brochures, etc. on Traditional Days, anniversaries and campaigns to participate in environmental protection activities. Ensuring that 70% of cadres, members and the elderly participate in activities or have access to propaganda content on environmental protection.

In the first 2 years of implementing the coordination program, the Provincial Elderly Association has sent 10 key officials of the provincial and district level associations to participate in training courses on environmental resource protection, border and island preservation organized by the Central Association. More than 300 key officials of the Association at the grassroots level have attended training courses on resource management and environmental protection organized by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Of which, there are 6 training courses on environmental protection of islands, 5 training courses on environmental protection and water resource management. Access to 360 sets of documents, nearly 400 leaflets printed and distributed by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Thereby, raising awareness of officials, members and the elderly about legal regulations on environmental protection.

By the end of 2023, the whole province will have over 103,000 elderly members. Of which, about 6,000 elderly are farm and business owners and over 10,000 elderly are participating in activities in areas such as: Party building, government, socio-political organizations, members of security teams, militia, neighborhood watch, and grassroots mediation teams. In addition, there are 46 intergenerational self-help clubs with over 3,000 members. In performing their tasks as well as in association activities, the elderly force combines resource management and environmental protection with promoting patriotic emulation movements in the locality, especially building a cultural life, building new rural areas, and civilized urban areas. To promote the role of the elderly in participating in environmental protection, the Provincial Elderly Association Executive Committee continues to direct the Elderly Association at all levels to develop a specific plan to implement the environmental protection coordination program for the period 2022 - 2026. Guide and direct the promotion of propaganda work to raise awareness among cadres, members and the elderly about compliance and active participation in environmental protection in residential areas and communities. Promote the emulation movement "Old age - Good example", the elderly participate in the management, rational use of natural resources, environmental protection and adaptation to climate change. Coordinate with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to organize training courses, as well as receive and distribute documents and publications on state management of environmental resources to cadres and members for study and awareness raising.
