As Chairman of the Association of the Elderly (NCT) of Muong So commune, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province, Mr. Vang Van Su is considered by local leaders, people and members as a dedicated and devoted Association official.

He always mobilizes and propagates people to strictly comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and regulations of agencies, units and organizations. Promotes the spirit of internal solidarity and unity, community, maintains close relationships with local Party committees, authorities and people. At the same time, upholds the spirit of responsibility, research and learning to constantly innovate and excellently complete assigned tasks.

Every year, the Commune Elderly Association coordinates with local Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, departments, branches, and organizations to mobilize agencies and units in the commune to solemnly organize longevity celebrations and wish longevity to 300 elderly people, with a total amount of 80 million VND. Visit, encourage, and give hundreds of gifts to sick and ill elderly people, poor elderly people, elderly people in difficult circumstances, and lonely elderly people without support on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year of the nation, Traditional Day of the Elderly (June 6), International Day of the Elderly (October 1) and Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam.

In addition, he and the Executive Committee of the Elderly Association in the commune advised the District People's Committee to coordinate in taking care of the health of the elderly. Coordinated in strengthening propaganda on nutrition, prevention of common diseases in old age such as blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, stroke prevention, bone and joint diseases... on the loudspeaker system and at health consultation conferences, attracting hundreds of elderly members to participate. Implementing the program "Bright eyes for the elderly", the Association coordinated with Lai Chau Hospital, District General Hospital, Eye Examination Facility to screen for eye diseases for 300 elderly people.

In order to create a healthy playground for the elderly, Mr. Su and the Executive Board of the Association coordinated to organize many propaganda sessions, disseminate laws, and provide information on domestic and international current events; organize a variety of cultural, artistic, and sports clubs such as walking, health care, table tennis, badminton, cycling, chess, yoga, folk dance; poetry, art, and intergenerational self-help clubs...

The movement "Exemplary grandparents and parents, loyal children and filial grandchildren" launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has spread widely to every neighborhood and village, receiving the response of many elderly people and people of all walks of life. Mr. Su encouraged his children, families, cadres and members of the elderly to practice a cultural lifestyle, preserve and promote the nation's fine cultural identity, and have a sense of responsibility to the community. From the movement, many families are shining examples, recognized by the community as typical and exemplary in building harmonious, happy and progressive families in the commune. Along with maintaining traditional customs and traditions, local families have boldly transformed the structure of crops and livestock, applied scientific and technological advances in production and business to increase income and improve their lives.

The campaign “All people unite to build new rural areas (NTM) and civilized urban areas” attracted a large number of elderly members in the commune to participate, contributing to the increasingly new appearance of the localities. Mr. Vang Van Su’s family contributed nearly 20 cubic meters of sand, gravel, and bought iron and steel to build a culvert across the road.

Mr. Vang Van Su's sense of responsibility, enthusiasm and positive contributions have contributed to the Muong So Commune Elderly Association always achieving the title of Strong Association, being considered a bright spot in the Association's activities of the district in particular and Lai Chau province in general. Thanks to that, in 2021, the Commune Elderly Association was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Here, Mr. Su was honored to be elected by the Provincial Elderly Association to attend the Conference to commend the elderly participating in building the grassroots political system, period 2019 - 2024 and was commended by the Central Association.
