Fishermen in a coastal village in southern Ha Tinh province have a big catch of anchovies.

In recent days, dozens of boats in Ky Ninh fishing village (Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh) have continuously had big catches of anchovies at the beginning of the season.

From morning to evening, the Ky Ninh wharf is always bustling with boats docking. After a night of fishing, every boat is full of anchovies.

Because the waterway is silted up, large-capacity ships have difficulty moving close to shore, so boats of about 12 horsepower are used as a means of transporting anchovies to shore to keep them fresh.

Anchovies are scattered all year round but the peak season is usually from the 11th lunar month of the previous year to the 3rd lunar month of the following year, including many types: silver rice, charcoal rice, dim rice...

According to the experience of many fishermen, every morning when going to the beach, looking out a few hundred meters, if you see white patches floating, it is a sign that anchovies are coming ashore, especially after each rough sea, more fish come in.

After a night of fishing, Nguyen Hai Tra's boat (Tam Hai 2 village, Ky Ninh commune) caught more than 3 tons of anchovies. "For the past 2-3 days, the sea has been calm and the weather has been good, so people have had a big catch of anchovies , with small boats catching 1-2 tons and large boats catching 4-5 tons. The fish are imported at the wharf to traders at a price of 10,000 - 15,000 VND/kg... After deducting fuel and labor costs, on peak days I earn more than 20 - 30 million VND in profit... ", Mr. Tra said excitedly.

Fisherman Le Xuan Yem in Tam Hai 1 village has just caught 2 tons of striped anchovies. "After less than a day at sea, we have caught a large catch of fish, so we fishermen are very excited. The fish have arrived at the port and traders are waiting to buy them, so the crew members are very happy and have more motivation to continue to stick to the sea," said Mr. Yem.
