On the morning of August 26, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, Director of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Ha Tinh province, said that after a period of efforts to prevent and control the epidemic, the dengue fever outbreak in Hai Phong village 2 (Ky Loi commune, Ky Anh town) has been successfully controlled.
Previously, the first case of dengue fever was reported on July 21, with patient Chu Thi H. (born in 1992, residing in village 2 Hai Phong, Ky Loi commune). After that, 34 more cases of dengue fever were recorded in village 2 Hai Phong.
Village 2 Hai Phong has a high population density, a lot of travel, exchange, trade and especially many workers from other provinces come to rent houses. In addition, the humid living environment, waste, water containers for daily life in households are still abundant, which is a favorable place for mosquitoes to breed and develop; the weather, climate is rainy, hot and humid... These factors are favorable conditions for dengue fever vectors to develop in the village.
Immediately after detecting the dengue fever outbreak, the CDC of Ha Tinh province quickly directed the Ky Anh Town Medical Center, in coordination with local authorities and people, to drastically implement measures to contain and suppress the epidemic. At the same time, they continuously launched campaigns to kill mosquito larvae, clean the environment, overturn water containers, collect waste, and clear sewers.
In addition, chemicals were sprayed twice for 428 households in Hai Phong village 2 and once for 435 households in Hai Phong village 1... The medical staff also promptly took dengue fever cases to medical facilities for treatment, avoiding the spread of the disease.
With drastic measures taken by the health sector and local authorities, after 14 days, no new cases were detected in Hai Phong village 2, and the dengue fever outbreak was controlled and extinguished. All 35 previous dengue fever patients have been cured.
