On March 17, Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced the second round of thinking assessment test scores for 2025. This test took place on March 8-9 with nearly 19,000 candidates registering to take the test, held at the same time at 30 test locations.
The highest score of the second round this year belonged to a candidate from Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted with 92.69/100 points. The runner-up was also a student from Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted.
Previously, the valedictorian of the first batch was also a candidate from Bac Ninh Specialized High School with 98.61 points - the highest score ever.
Sharing with Tien Phong , Mr. Nguyen Thanh Do - Vice Principal of Bac Ninh Province's Gifted High School felt very happy when knowing that 2 students of the school were the valedictorians of the first and second rounds of the thinking assessment exam of Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Mr. Do said that Bac Ninh Gifted High School, formerly Bac Ninh Gifted High School, was established in 1993.
Explaining why students of Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted achieved many high results in national and international competitions for excellent students, Mr. Do said that the school has been proactive and innovative in creating a source of students. Accordingly, Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted has built links with 8 key secondary schools in the province.

Bac Ninh Specialized High School organizes professional activities with 8 key secondary schools with the aim of creating cohesion and connecting the training environment for talents in the province, improving professional knowledge for teachers of key secondary schools and attracting excellent students from secondary schools to study at Bac Ninh Specialized High School.
"The innovation in creating a source of students has attracted many excellent students from districts and towns in the province to study at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted and helped the national excellent student team to have more and more excellent factors," said Mr. Do.
According to Mr. Do, the teaching and training of excellent students at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted has highlights in each stage in the 3 school years. The stage of basic knowledge of specialized subjects (during the school year and summer of grade 10). The stage of pre-team training for grade 11 (August, September). The stage of official team training for grade 11 (studying for about 3 months).
The stage of creating a foundation of knowledge in specialized subjects creates good momentum for the 12th grade team (from January of grade 11 to September of grade 12). The stage of approaching round II for students with potential to join the regional and international excellent student team and selecting students who are good in all subjects to participate in the top class of the entrance exam.

Mr. Do shared that there are also innovations in teaching. That is, Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted has assigned 2 teachers to teach the same specialized class. This increases specialization to deeply research specialized knowledge, encourages the teaching process to always strive to improve knowledge; at the same time, trains a team of successors to teach specialized subjects; builds a large team of teachers for national and international excellent student teams.
“In addition to studying, the front house has many clubs, intellectual playgrounds, and diverse and vibrant extracurricular activities, helping students gain diverse and rich knowledge to do comprehensive exercises,” Mr. Do shared.

Nguyen Duc Minh, a student majoring in Mathematics at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, told Tien Phong that he was surprised to become the valedictorian of the second round of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology’s thinking assessment exam. Before that, when he finished the exam, Minh predicted that he would get a high score, but did not think he would become the valedictorian.
“My academic results are greatly contributed by the teachers at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted. The teachers at the school love the students like their own children,” Minh said.

Minh added that during their time studying at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, when Minh and his classmates were not good at any aspect of their studies, the teachers were willing to teach them extra hours for free, giving them dedicated guidance, regardless of time. Thanks to that, every student in the class improved day by day and confidently entered the exams.
According to Minh, the teachers in class have provided enough knowledge, he just needs to focus on studying. Going to extra classes for Minh is only to practice his homework skills.
Minh shared that since grade 11, Minh had participated in the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment exam to gain experience and know how to prepare for the exam. Therefore, Minh felt confident entering this year's exam.
“Every day, I don’t stay up too late to study. Participating in clubs and extracurricular activities at school helps me develop myself and my social knowledge a lot,” Minh said.
In the 2023-2024 school year, 100% of students at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted achieved excellent student status or higher; the school won 79 national excellent student competitions, including 11 first prizes; 5 students were valedictorians of block C00 nationwide; students won international Gold and Bronze medals in Chemistry, and Bronze medals in European Physics.
