US shooting suspect dead

According to Sky News, suspect Robert Card in the shooting in Lewiston, Maine, USA, has died.

Robert Card died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Maine authorities lifted the stay-at-home order on the morning of October 28, nearly 48 hours after the horrific shooting. Local officials are scheduled to hold a press conference later that day.

Earlier, Lewiston city authorities confirmed that the shooting occurred at the Schemengee bar and Sparetime entertainment center on October 26, killing 18 people and injuring 13 others. This is the bloodiest shooting in the US since the beginning of the year.

Police also found a note from Robert Card, in which he said he hoped to be alive when the note was found. Robert Card had been admitted to a mental health facility for two weeks over the summer. Family members said Robert Card was haunted by voices in his head and believed everyone around him was against him. The suspect's motive for the shooting is not yet known.

Following the incident, US President Joe Biden spoke with Maine Governor Janet Mills about the proposed federal assistance. He expressed condolences to the injured victims and relatives of those killed in the shooting, and ordered flags to be flown at half-staff at the White House and all government buildings.
