According to investigators, this serious shooting took place at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. In addition to the four people killed, nine people were taken to the hospital with various injuries from gunshots.
The suspect, identified as 14-year-old Colt Gray, a student at the school, was taken into custody and will be charged and tried as an adult, said Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey.

The suspect has spoken to investigators, but his motive has not been released. Authorities have also not said what type of gun was used in the shooting.
Police Chief Jud Smith said officers responded quickly to the incident after receiving reports of the shooting at about 10:20 a.m. Smith said the gunman was tackled by a school police officer and the boy immediately dropped to the ground and surrendered.
Local television stations broadcast images of parents lining up in cars on a road outside the school, hoping to see their children. The school, which had nearly 1,900 students last year, began classes on Aug. 1.
ABC News quoted a witness, student Sergio Caldera, as saying he was in chemistry class when he heard the gunshots. Caldera, 17, told ABC that his classroom door was open when a teacher ran in and told him to close the door "because there was an active shooter."
As students and teachers gathered in the classroom, someone banged on the door and yelled repeatedly for it to open. When the knocking stopped, Caldera heard more gunshots and screaming. He said his class then evacuated to the school’s soccer field.
The White House said in a statement that President Joe Biden had been briefed on the shooting. Biden offered his condolences to the victims in a statement, calling on Republicans to work with Democrats to pass “common sense gun safety laws.”
Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, called the shooting a "senseless tragedy" and "we have to stop it. We have to end this gun violence."
Former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, wrote on social media: "Our thoughts are with the victims and loved ones of those affected by the tragic events in Winder, GA."
The US has seen hundreds of school shootings in the past two decades, including the deadliest, which killed more than 30 people at Virginia Tech in 2007. The massacre has fueled a heated debate over gun laws in the US, which recognize the right to "keep and bear arms".
