The event had a special meaning when the school took a solemn moment to pay tribute to the former leaders - those who silently contributed and laid the foundation to build the strong Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema as it is today.

Accordingly, in 2007, the Prime Minister signed the agreement to propose the establishment of Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema on the basis of upgrading Ho Chi Minh City College of Theatre and Cinema under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. And an important milestone, on October 13, 2009, the School was honored to receive the decision to recognize Ho Chi Minh City College of Theatre and Cinema as Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema.

The welcoming performances were staged and performed by the school's students, demonstrating their talent, creativity and burning passion for art.
