On the morning of December 19, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak province held a conference to review the work plan for 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025.

In 2024, although there are still many difficulties and challenges such as extreme weather, natural disasters, diseases on crops and livestock, deforestation, illegal encroachment of forest land with complicated developments... the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province has achieved many great achievements, the overall indicators of the sector basically met and exceeded the plan; agriculture, forestry and fishery continue to hold an important position in the economic structure of the province; prices of key agricultural products increased, contributing to stabilizing people's lives and developing the socio-economy of the whole province.

Accordingly, compared to 2023, the total value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the area (at 2010 comparative prices) is estimated to reach more than 23,520 billion VND (100.9% of the plan), an increase of 4.83% and 1.4 times higher than the national average; irrigation ensuring proactive irrigation is estimated to reach 84.45%, achieving the 2024 plan and increasing by 0.57% compared to 2023; The rate of rural population using hygienic water reached 97.15% (exceeding 0.15% of the 2024 plan, up 0.65% compared to 2023; the forest coverage rate (including rubber trees) is estimated at 38.8% to date, exceeding 0.76% compared to the 2024 plan; the total crop area in 2024 is estimated at 697,694 hectares, equal to 106.31% of the plan, up 6,280 hectares compared to 2023. To date, the whole province has 230 OCOP products, an increase of 81 products compared to 2023 and exceeding 30 products compared to the plan by the end of 2025.

The province's key agricultural products such as coffee, pepper, and durian are all in season and have good prices, bringing huge profits to agricultural farmers. Thereby, creating resources to strongly promote agricultural restructuring, especially developing product linkages along value chains, certified production, applying high technology, clean agriculture, organic agriculture, multi-value agriculture, and circular agriculture into practice.
In 2025, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development set the following targets: the total value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the area will reach 24,703 billion VND; irrigation will ensure proactive irrigation for over 85% of the crop area in need of irrigation; the rate of rural residents using clean water will reach 97.5%; the rate of communes meeting new rural standards will reach 65.1%; the rate of forest coverage (including rubber trees) will reach 40%.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Truong Cong Thai acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and outstanding achievements that the entire Agriculture and Rural Development sector has achieved in 2024. At the same time, he emphasized that in the coming time, the provincial Agriculture sector needs to continue to fully grasp the "agricultural economy" mindset; focus on synchronously implementing key tasks of restructuring the agricultural sector, towards multi-value agriculture, clean, organic agriculture, circular agriculture, responsible agriculture; improve the capacity to develop and implement legal documents and Resolutions of the Party, Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, Programs/Action Plans of the sector; continue to promote restructuring the sector, improve productivity, quality of agricultural products and production and business efficiency.
At the same time, in order for the agricultural sector to develop effectively and sustainably, it is necessary to effectively and synchronously carry out the tasks of innovating and developing forms of production and business organization in agriculture; improve the effectiveness of food safety and hygiene management, processing and trade of agricultural, forestry and fishery products; strengthen research, application of science and technology and agricultural extension, plant varieties, livestock, aquaculture and forestry; develop irrigation infrastructure, clean water for rural environment, enhance capacity for natural disaster prevention and mitigation; implement the New Rural Development Program associated with restructuring the agricultural sector; increase attraction and effective use of investment capital, proactively and actively integrate internationally...
