Mr. Nguyen Khoa Khang - Head of Tuy Hoa City Urban Management Department - said that the Nghinh Phong Tower Square project is the center, the "heart" of Tuy Hoa coastal park.
The design idea for the construction of Thap Nghinh Phong Square was implemented in April 2019. The idea of the square was inspired by the special national landscape of Ganh Da Dia combined with the legend of "Hundred Eggs" of the Au Co - Lac Long Quan legend, chosen because it combines the strengths of the coastal area, reflecting the spirit of reaching out to the sea and getting rich from the sea of Phu Yen province.
The project was put into use by Tuy Hoa City in 2021. Nghinh Phong Tower Square is a place to organize major cultural and artistic events at the provincial and national levels, with a capacity of about 10,000 people - Photo: DUONG THANH XUAN
The square consists of four main parts. That is the square ground with a total area of 7,190m², semicircular, paved with granite. The choice of location and scale of the project is considered based on the principles of vision, proportion and unified rhythm to arrange the blocks - Photo: DUONG THANH XUAN
The tower yard is an outdoor stage, with the Nghinh Phong tower at its center. The steps are arranged alternately from 7 to 9 steps - Photo: DUONG THANH XUAN
The tower body consists of two towers 35m and 30m high, also known as "twin towers". Stone pillars of similar size are arranged side by side from low to high towards the inside; the number of stone pillars is 100, divided into two sides of 50 pillars each, in the middle is a wind-catching slot meaning "Nghinh Phong"; 100 stone pillars are applied with the art of cleverly arranging blocks, the stone blocks are stacked on top of each other in a suitable ratio, the construction is in harmony with the landscape, not giving a heavy feeling. At night, the tower is illuminated with Bobine Tesia technology, 3D mapping and high-intensity laser - Photo: Tuy Hoa City People's Committee
The “Nghinh Phong” wind-catching slot is 2m wide (just enough for two people to pass through), 15m long, creating a passage from the front stage to the back yard of the tower. The arrangement of the wind-catching slot creates a special auditory effect, giving the Nghinh Phong tower a uniqueness that no other place has. The sound of the sea just passes through the “Nghinh Phong” wind-catching slot, becoming the music of the vibrant life of the sea, awakening the hearts of all visitors - Photo: DUONG THANH XUAN
On the two high walls from the bottom to the top of the tower, local artisans have breathed life into the reliefs carved on the cliff, telling through images the historical story of the Vietnamese people - Photo: Tuy Hoa City People's Committee
Below the square (at an elevation of -3m above the square ground) is the area adjacent to the sandy beach, organizing entertainment and culinary spaces, along with underground utilities convenient for the activities of residents and tourists. The coastline adjacent to the project is a green space, where large poplar and coconut clusters are planted to help prevent wind and sand and protect the coast - Photo: DUONG THANH XUAN
This is a level II technical infrastructure project, with a lifespan of 100 years, according to Vietnamese technical standards. The main material used for the project is natural granite from the local land, transported to the construction site from Son Hoa and Dong Xuan districts... - Photo: Tuy Hoa City People's Committee
The Asian Urban Landscape Awards were established in 2010, with the coordination of four relevant organizations on architecture, urban planning, and human settlement in the Asia-Pacific region.
The winning projects were evaluated according to five criteria: environmental friendliness, sustainable safety, respect for local culture and history, high artistic quality, contribution to the development of the region and being a model for other cities.
