Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported multiple explosions in the Ukrainian capital after air defense systems were activated to intercept a Russian missile attack on the morning of March 24, according to Reuters.

Kyiv military leader Serhiy Popko said Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed about a dozen missiles launched by Russia over Kyiv and its surroundings.
Preliminary information shows that there were no casualties or significant damage after the attack. In recent days, Russia is said to have continuously attacked Ukraine in response to Kyiv's accusations of hacking during the recent Russian presidential election.

Reuters quoted Ukrainian media as saying that Russian missiles had flown near the Polish border in the western Lviv region of Ukraine. The Polish military said it had activated Polish and allied aircraft to increase security, especially in the southeastern part of the country, which borders Ukraine.

"All necessary procedures to ensure the safety of Polish airspace have been activated, and the Polish Air Force Operations Command is constantly monitoring the situation," the Polish Air Force wrote on X.
Russian missiles are believed to have entered the airspace of Poland, a NATO member, during the conflict in Ukraine. In a serious incident in November 2022, a missile fell on Polish territory, killing two civilians. The incident occurred amid a major Russian offensive in Ukraine. Polish investigators later concluded that the missile was an anti-aircraft missile fired by Ukraine to intercept a Russian missile but went astray.
On the morning of March 24, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said that the city had not recorded any attacks, but that about 20 missiles and 7 attack drones (UAVs) had been launched in other areas of the Lviv region. The missiles and UAVs targeted important infrastructure.
Ukraine running out of anti-aircraft missiles?
Russia did not immediately comment on the incident.
US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink announced on social network X that this is the third time this week that air strike warnings have sounded across Ukraine at dawn and people have been advised to take shelter.
