Improving capacity and efficiency of agricultural extension work

(QNO) - On May 24, the Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatch 3152 on promoting agricultural extension work, contributing to changing thinking from agricultural production to agricultural economy.

The Provincial People's Committee requests the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to strengthen the grassroots agricultural extension system and improve the capacity and efficiency of agricultural extension activities, ensuring essential public services on agricultural extension for production, social security, hunger eradication and poverty reduction. Promote the community agricultural extension model to grasp the situation of agricultural production, transfer knowledge and techniques to farmers; support state management of agriculture at the local level.

Agricultural extension work needs to focus on promoting the transfer of science and technology into production, processing, consumption, etc.; at the same time, strengthen propaganda to raise awareness to innovate thinking, shifting from "agricultural production thinking" to "agricultural economic thinking", from "technical agricultural extension" to "market agricultural extension".

Localities promote the application of information technology and digital transformation, develop farmer models and digital technology in agricultural extension activities. Strengthen high-tech agricultural extension activities and advanced agricultural production to effectively exploit competitive advantages of each locality; promote joint ventures and associations in production, processing and consumption of agricultural products.

Mobilize scientific career funds, production development capital from allocated target programs... to focus resources on agricultural extension activities to help people develop production, increase added value per unit area, and contribute to improving income...
