Ruben Amorim will begin a new era at Manchester United without a major transfer budget. Despite United spending more than £600m in two and a half years under Erik ten Hag, the club’s board have no plans to overhaul their squad at the end of the season. Instead, they believe Amorim can get the best out of the current crop of players.

Ten Hag spent close to £200m this summer on the likes of Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui. However, under Amorim, United are unlikely to spend big in the upcoming transfer windows, hoping that the Portuguese’s tactics and formation will help players like Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount reach their full potential.
Although United are monitoring striker Viktor Gyokeres, expectations are high for Hojlund. Amorim will make his debut next Sunday when United travel to Ipswich Town. Given the current financial situation, it is unlikely that the team will make any major signings in the winter transfer window of 2025.
