Mitoma is in MU's sights.

According to Manchester Evening News , £60 million is the price Man Utd can spend to recruit Kaoru Mitoma from Brighton.

If the deal goes through, Mitoma will surpass Kim Min-jae as the highest-paid Asian player in history. In 2023, the South Korean centre-back left Napoli to join Bayern for £43 million.

In the role of a left winger, sometimes moving into the middle as a playmaker, Mitoma had an impressive performance with 8 goals, 3 assists in all competitions. The star born in 1997 is an important factor helping Brighton compete for a ticket to the Champions League next season. Currently, the Amex Stadium club is ranked 7th and only 1 point behind 5th place. In addition, Brighton has also reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, where they will face Nottingham Forest on March 29.

Former Brighton manager Gus Poyet has heaped praise on Mitoma, saying he is fully capable of playing for an ambitious club like Man Utd.

“Quality-wise, he is good enough for Manchester United. The question is whether he can take the next step and play at a higher level,” said Gus Poyet.

Mitoma is currently contracted to Brighton until 2027. The club's chief executive, Paul Barber, has admitted that they may have to sell some key players in the near future, although he did not confirm whether this would happen this summer.

In the most recent transfer window, Al Nassr were said to have offered £70m to buy Mitoma but the Japanese star refused to team up with Cristiano Ronaldo.
