"I hope to win many medals in 2025, especially the SEA Games in Thailand, and aim for a more successful ASIAD. Shooting is a very special sport. I hope the sport will receive more investment, athletes will be able to compete in more international tournaments, and have more experience," Trinh Thu Vinh shared when receiving the award in Hanoi this morning.
Based on the voting results, the program "Glory of Vietnamese Sports 2025" honored outstanding individuals in 2024. The title of National Outstanding Athlete 2024 belongs to female shooter Trinh Thu Vinh. In 2024, Thu Vinh won the Asian gold medal and fourth place at the Paris Olympics.
The list of 10 outstanding national athletes in 2024 includes: Trinh Thu Vinh (shooting), Tran Quyet Chien (billiards), Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen (volleyball), Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing), Pham Thi Hue (rowing), Nguyen Thuy Linh (badminton), Nguyen Thi That (cycling), Ha Thi Linh (boxing), Tran Thi Nhi Yen (athletics) and Do Thi Anh Nguyet (archery).
Meanwhile, the title of National Outstanding Disabled Athlete belongs to weightlifter Le Van Cong. In 2024, he won 1 Paralympic bronze medal; 2 gold medals, 1 World Cup bronze medal.
The program "Glory of Vietnamese Sports" in 2025 was held on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Vietnamese Sports Day.
"The program 'Glory of Vietnamese Sports' is not only a meaningful event to honor and reward outstanding athletes and coaches, but also an opportunity to review the formation and development of Vietnamese sports over the past 79 years," said Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
At this year's event, nearly 1,000 delegates, guests, coaches, and athletes participated in the Olympic Run Day for public health at the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center.
