Along with the national flag, the map of Vietnam holds a sacred meaning in the hearts of every Vietnamese person. With the hope of promoting propaganda activities, educating patriotism, territorial integrity and national pride for the younger generation, the campaign "Proud of a strip of mountains and rivers" was launched by the Central Youth Union in October 2023 with the message "Each map, a Vietnamese heart". Responding to the campaign, in Quang Ninh, 100% of the Youth Union units organized many exciting and practical activities, creating a widespread influence on all classes of people and the whole society, especially for union members and children.
The campaign "Proud of a strip of country" launched by the Central Youth Union aims to educate patriotism, awareness of national sovereignty, and arouse pride in territorial integrity in every Vietnamese person in general, union members, and children in particular. This is a meaningful activity of the youth of the whole country to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification on April 30 (1975-2025) and the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution on August 19 (1945-2025), and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on September 2 (1945-2025). Accordingly, the campaign was launched from the end of 2023 to 2025 on a nationwide scale, at all levels of the Youth Union, Association, and Young Pioneers at home and abroad through hanging maps of Vietnam in study, work, and community activities of Vietnamese children and people.
In Quang Ninh, since the campaign was launched in December 2023, the province has had more than 1,400 new maps hung in learning, working and community spaces for young people, reaching 50% of the 2024 plan with 100% of the Youth Union participating in the response. The goal for the entire 2023-2025 period is that the entire Youth Union will hang over 7,000 maps of Vietnam.
Secretary of Binh Lieu District Youth Union Tran Thi Huong shared: Previously, in the Youth Union units in particular or in the state agencies and units in general, there were also maps of Vietnam hung, but mainly in the common meeting rooms, traditional rooms... However, since implementing this meaningful campaign, the hanging of maps of Vietnam has become more popular. The District Youth Union has organized to give maps of Vietnam to school youth unions, village youth unions, and neighborhoods on the occasion of major events of the Union in 2024 such as Youth Month, Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign... When receiving maps, the Youth Union bases bought frames or mobilized young union members and students to participate in making their own frames and brackets to hang the maps in the most prominent positions. From here, we constantly remind cadres and young union members to constantly promote the core and pioneering role of the youth in the cause of protecting sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In addition, the Youth Union at all levels and many Youth Union members in the province have synchronously changed their profile pictures on social networking sites such as Zalo, Facebook, phone and computer wallpapers, etc. to respond to the campaign. Notably, the Coal Union has created a video to introduce and promote the campaign "Proud of a strip of land and river" launched throughout the Union.
Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Phuong Thao emphasized: The campaign "Proud of a strip of mountains and rivers" is a specific activity of Vietnamese youth to demonstrate the responsibility of the young generation towards the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland. Hanging a map is not simply hanging an image in the office, living room, or residence, but looking at it, each individual sees a miniature image of the country, more clearly perceives the territorial integrity of Vietnam, thereby lighting up in the heart the responsibility to protect the sovereignty of the Fatherland. Each map hung is a form of visual propaganda, helping each Youth Union cadre and member better understand the geographical indications of the country, about the places associated with the history of thousands of years of building and defending the country of the nation.
In conjunction with the implementation of the map hanging campaign, the Provincial Youth Union also encourages all levels of the Youth Union and Young Pioneers to strengthen activities to educate about traditions, history, and culture, and maintain the organization of "Journey to the source" and "Journey for the homeland's sea and islands". Thereby, continuing to widely spread the message that firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland is not only a noble duty and responsibility but also an honor for every Vietnamese citizen, especially the young generation, to a large number of children and teenagers.
We believe that from the strong spread of the campaign "Proud of a strip of country", not only young people but also the whole community will multiply the spirit of "Each map, a Vietnamese heart".
