Announcing Binh Duong Province Planning: Opening a new development period

Binh Duong province's planning for the 2021-2030 period will remove many bottlenecks to open a new development path, making Binh Duong a dynamic and creative economic center.

On September 26, Binh Duong province held a conference to announce the provincial planning for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050 and promote investment. The event was attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, leaders of ministries, branches and a large number of domestic and international business communities.

Binh Duong to become a centrally-governed city by 2030

At the Conference, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong announced the Prime Minister's Decision approving the Binh Duong Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050.

Informing some key points in the planning of Binh Duong province for the period 2021-2030, Deputy Minister Tran Quoc Phuong said that the biggest goal the province sets is to become a centrally-run city by 2030.

At that time, Binh Duong will be a dynamic development center, leading in science and technology, industry and modern services. Urban infrastructure will develop intelligently, sustainably, protect the environment and improve the quality of life of the people, ensuring social security.

Regarding some targets, Binh Duong sets an average economic growth rate of about 10% per year in the 2021-2030 period, with GRDP per capita in 2030 reaching about 15,800 USD.

Economic structure in 2030: industry and construction account for 64%; service sector accounts for 28%; agriculture, forestry and fishery account for 2%; product taxes minus product subsidies account for 6%;

Population size by 2030 will reach 4.04 million people (of which official population is 3.48 million people; converted population is 0.56 million people).

Binh Duong's planning is based on 6 development pillars with 37 tasks, 5 integrated strategies and development according to the structural model: 1 development pillar, 2 ecological corridors, 3 connecting belts, 4 dynamic centers and 5 development zones.

By 2050, Binh Duong aims to become a modern, sustainably developed industrial and service urban center, and a preferred destination for global businesses in the fields of high-tech industry and industrial services.

The province is one of the locomotives promoting national economic development with the main growth drivers being industry, services, and innovation, with a solid economic foundation and high competitiveness; people enjoy a high quality of life, with income levels comparable to those of developed countries.

Ready to launch a new phase of development

On the local side, speaking at the conference, Mr. Mai Hung Dung, Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, said that with this Planning, Binh Duong is ready to start a new development phase with many new orientations full of aspirations for a rich, civilized, and affectionate locality, a closely connected piece between the remaining localities.

Mr. Dung said that with this planning, Binh Duong province will remove many bottlenecks in the development model of the previous period, as well as set a goal of becoming a centrally-governed city by 2030, with new breakthroughs.

The plan also sets the goal that Binh Duong will be one of the dynamic and comprehensive development centers of Southeast Asia, leading in science, technology and innovation with a synchronous and sustainable economic and social infrastructure system following the green growth model.

The 2021-2030 planning period opens a new development path, a path with many challenges to overcome. "Binh Duong province promises to fully complete this planning, meeting the expectations of the Party, State, People and business community, continuing the great achievements that generations of provincial leaders have created," Binh Duong province leaders pledged at the conference.
