Closing ceremony of national environmental event in Quang Nam

(NLDO) - The National Biodiversity Restoration Year was held for the first time with many meaningful activities, spreading the message of living in harmony with nature.

On the evening of February 21, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province held the closing ceremony of the National Biodiversity Restoration Year - Quang Nam 2024 with the theme "Living in harmony with nature".

Mr. Le Van Dung, Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee and delegates visited the exhibition of paintings on biodiversity of Quang Nam province.

According to the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, the National Biodiversity Restoration Year - Quang Nam 2024 is an environmental event of national and international scale, contributing to raising awareness of all levels, sectors and people about the importance of biodiversity conservation with the goal of developing Quang Nam into one of the pioneering provinces in developing a green growth economy, a circular economy and a harmonious balance between environment and development.

This is also an activity to implement the National Strategy on Biodiversity to 2030, vision 2050; associated with participating in responding to the United Nations Decade of Ecosystem Restoration 2021 - 2030; contributing to implementing Vietnam's international commitments at the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) taking place in Montreal, Canada in 2022 (which affirmed that "Vietnam continues to actively participate in common efforts to conserve global biodiversity").

Within the framework of "National Biodiversity Restoration Year - Quang Nam 2024", there are many events organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and responded by many provinces and centrally run cities.

Mr. Phan Thai Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee spoke at the closing ceremony.

In Quang Nam, more than 40 events and a series of rich and unique activities will take place from March to December 2024 with the active participation of sectors, levels and the whole society with many scales and levels from large to small.

Mr. Phan Thai Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, said that the National Biodiversity Restoration Year - Quang Nam 2024 was proposed and hosted by Quang Nam province for the first time, and received the attention and direction of central ministries and branches; the coordination and response of provinces and cities across the country. Thereby, it brought overall success to this event, with many meaningful activities organized throughout 2024.

On the afternoon of February 21, leaders of Quang Nam province and Tam Ky city released fish to restore biodiversity on Dam River.

Mr. Binh said that the Quang Nam National Biodiversity Restoration Year 2024 is not just a campaign, but a strong call to action, a commitment to join hands to protect our living environment. From scientists, managers, to the community, everyone has contributed to this common success.

At the closing ceremony, Quang Nam province announced the decision to establish Cu Lao Cham Nature Reserve; awarded the certificate of Ngoc Linh ginseng biodiversity conservation facility to Tra Linh Medicinal Plant Station under the Center for Development of Ngoc Linh Ginseng and Quang Nam Medicinal Plants...
