Previously, meteorological experts assessed that the severe cold spell that occurred for 3 consecutive days at the end of February was also considered rare in the North during the second half of February. Specifically, according to statistics, from 2017 to 2021 there were no severe cold spells.

In 2022, there were 4 days of severe cold in the second half of February, but the period from February 20-23. Therefore, severe cold in late February, even early March like this is quite rare.

In addition, according to the 10-day weather forecast and warning bulletin for Ho Chi Minh City (from February 27 to March 8), the Southern Hydrometeorological Station also said that today, the cold air is gradually weakening and moving to the East; around February 29 to March 1, it is likely to strengthen. Notably, around March 6-7, the cold air will strengthen again.

Meteorologists also said that there is a possibility of weak cold air in mid and late March.

Meanwhile, according to this Meteorological Station, the South is experiencing a prolonged heat wave, with many places experiencing intense heat, affecting people's lives and activities.

Due to the effects of hot weather, combined with high UV index, it affects people's health when participating in outdoor activities for a long time. Along with that, the humidity in the air is low, the weather is dry, and there is a risk of fire and explosion.

Experts estimate that in the past 33 years, there have been 13 years where severe cold spells occurred for 3 consecutive days. In early March, a new cold spell will return.
