HCMC Metro in Time magazine's top 100 destinations

Time magazine recently announced a list of the 100 best destinations in 2025 and the Ho Chi Minh City metro line (metro line No. 1) was selected for that list.

Time magazine's editorial team has selected Ho Chi Minh City's metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) in the list of 100 most attractive destinations to stay and visit in 2025. Ho Chi Minh City Metro will operate from December 2024.

Ho Chi Minh City metro line selected for Time magazine list

This is the 7th year Time has published this list, according to CNN. The list includes a series of destinations such as resorts, hotels, restaurants, cruise ships, museums, national parks, etc.

Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line is one of 21 destinations in Asia. Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) was put into commercial operation on December 22, 2024 and officially inaugurated on March 9.

Metro Line No. 1 has served more than 5 million passengers since its operation until its inauguration on March 9.

Metro line No. 1 has a total length of 19.7 km, connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with Thu Duc city.

Metro Line 1 has a total length of 19.7 km, connecting Ben Thanh Station with Suoi Tien Station in Thu Duc City with 14 stations. According to Time , the project promises to reduce traffic congestion and pollution in Ho Chi Minh City. Tourists can take the metro to visit famous places nearby such as the City Theater, Nguyen Hue walking street or Bui Vien night street.

Since its inauguration, Metro Line 1 has served more than 5 million passengers. Time described the operation of this transportation system as an achievement for the city.

The construction project of metro line No. 2 of Ho Chi Minh City is divided into 3 phases, of which phase 1 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) is being implemented.
