The smartphone has scored impressive scores in both single-core and multi-core performance tests. While the Galaxy S25 Ultra has been listed with the Android 16-based One UI 8 test build, the Galaxy S25 has also appeared on Geekbench, suggesting that One UI 8 has begun to be tested on a large scale.
Galaxy phone performance will improve after updating to One UI 8
The development of One UI 8 comes as Samsung is rapidly developing the new operating system, even before the rollout of One UI 7. In January, the company introduced the Galaxy S25 series with One UI 7 based on Android 15 pre-installed. This means that One UI 8 based on Android 16 will be the first major upgrade for these devices.
However, Samsung has struggled to update One UI 7, with the beta launching in July 2024 but the stable version only rolling out from April 2025. This has led many to question whether a similar delay will happen with One UI 8.
One UI 8 will be released soon
The Android 16 update won’t be in the same situation. Recent reports suggest that the One UI 8 beta could be coming soon or returning to its usual release timeline (beta in Q3, stable version in Q4).
Samsung determined to increase foldable phone sales
In terms of benchmarks, Samsung's SM-S931B (global Galaxy S25) scored 3,135 points in the single-core test and 9,938 points in the multi-core test. These scores are on par with the Galaxy S25 Ultra running One UI 7, meaning One UI 8 will likely help optimize the power of older Samsung smartphones.
In addition to the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung is also conducting internal software tests for the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The company's foldable device is expected to join the One UI 8 beta testing alongside the Galaxy S25 series, which could start after Android 16 officially launches in June.
