The consulting unit presented the route and plan to extend the Ho Chi Minh City metro line to Trang Bom, Dong Nai.

At the meeting, the representative of the consulting unit presented the direction plan of the metro line connecting from Suoi Tien to Dong Nai with several options.

In which, the total length of the metro line is nearly 21km, including 13 stations (including station S0) and 1 depot with an area of over 23ha. In which, the starting point of the line is connected from behind Suoi Tien Bus Station of metro line No. 1 in Ho Chi Minh City, the end point of the line ends at the depot expected in Ho Nai 3 commune, Trang Bom district, Dong Nai. Thus, the metro can pass through areas with many industrial parks and residential areas in Dong Nai.

Regarding the route plan, the consulting unit also proposed elevated and underground options for the route section in the province.

The consulting unit calculated that for the route in the province, the total investment is expected to be about 30,000 billion VND. Regarding the capital for implementation, there may be 3 sources: the province's annual public investment, support capital from the central budget and loan capital (ODA loan or local bond issuance).

Mr. Ho Van Ha, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, said that the key issue for this project is investment capital. Therefore, Mr. Ha assigned the Department of Construction to propose the establishment of a working group to develop an investment project for the metro line connecting with metro line No. 1 in Ho Chi Minh City.

In particular, propose specific mechanisms to recommend central agencies to support in order to implement this project in the fastest, most economical and most effective way. At the same time, this project must be included in the list of top priority projects for early implementation. Regarding the route plan, Dong Nai province leaders requested the provincial authorities as well as the consulting unit to study the underground plan to ensure urban aesthetics.

According to the plan, in addition to the desire to extend the metro line to Dong Nai, Dong Nai will have 3 national railway lines invested in construction, including: North-South high-speed railway; Bien Hoa-Vung Tau railway and Thu Thiem-Long Thanh light railway.

In particular, the North-South high-speed railway has been completed by the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) with a pre-feasibility study report and has been appraised by the State Appraisal Council; at the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly, the Government submitted the investment policy to the National Assembly for consideration and approval. For the section passing through the province, which is expected to be about 80km long, there will be 1 passenger station in Long Thanh International Airport and 1 cargo station in Trang Bom district.

The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway is being prepared by the Railway Project Management Board for a pre-feasibility study report. The section passing through Dong Nai province is expected to be about 87km long, including the Trang Bom - Hoa Hung section. The Thu Thiem - Long Thanh light railway is also being prepared by the Railway Project Management Board for a pre-feasibility study report, with a section passing through the province being about 37km long.
