Meta Vice President told Bloomberg that he is honored to lead the company's business operations across Asia-Pacific. He will stay for a few months while waiting for a successor and supporting the handover process.

Simon Kemp, an analyst at research firm DataReportal, points out that Facebook has grown significantly during Neary’s tenure. Ten years ago, the region accounted for about 35% of Facebook’s global ad reach. Today, it accounts for less than 50%, or 1.1 billion accounts. Instagram and WhatsApp have also expanded rapidly. In some countries, such as Thailand, Facebook is the number one platform for communication and entertainment.

Prior to joining Meta, Mr. Neary was vice president and global market development manager at Skype and vice president of emerging markets at eBay, according to his LinkedIn profile.

News of his departure came just a day after he posted about Meta's latest AI solutions for clients.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors he would spend hundreds of billions of dollars on AI infrastructure. AI is being incorporated into Meta's apps and divisions, from Instagram to Facebook to virtual reality glasses.
