According to Vietnam Airlines, after taking off and flying for more than 2 hours, passenger VTV (32 years old, Vietnamese nationality) sitting in seat 24G had health problems (suspected low blood pressure, cold hands and feet). The crew called for support from a nurse on the flight and assessed that passenger VTV needed to go to the emergency room immediately, otherwise it would affect the passenger's life.
The crew immediately notified and communicated directly with Vietnam Airlines' operations center via the in-flight communication system and decided to land at the nearest airport, Taoyuan Airport, at 1:27 p.m. on December 27 (local time) to provide emergency care and ensure the health and safety of VTV passengers.
As soon as the flight landed at the airport, the Vietnam Airlines branch in Taiwan prepared an ambulance and took the passenger to the hospital as quickly as possible.
The passenger is now showing signs of improvement and is being tested at the hospital. The airline is in regular contact to check on the passenger’s condition, update him on his health status, and continue to assist him when necessary.
After the passenger was taken to the emergency room, flight VN307 continued its journey to Ho Chi Minh City, landing 3 hours and 10 minutes later than planned.
Passenger health and safety is paramount
Airlines all believe that emergency landings to ensure passenger safety are urgent, requiring careful consideration and timely decisions from the crew as well as the airline.
In fact, navigating a flight for an emergency landing always costs the airline a lot of resources and expenses for rescheduling flights, refueling, ground services, etc., but the safety and health of passengers are always the top priority for many airlines.
