Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang, Vice Principal of De Ar Kindergarten, reflected: “The cassava purchasing station is located right next to the school, causing dust and noise that affects the children. Especially at noon, when the children are sleeping, the machines are operating loudly, so the children almost cannot have a good afternoon nap.”
“Since the weighing station was built, the children have not been allowed to go outside to play. The teachers have had to “lock” the children in the classroom because the dust outside is unbearable and they are afraid it will affect their health. On Saturdays and Sundays, the school has to spray and flush the entire school yard, walls, playground, etc. all day, but the dust still does not go away,” said Ms. Trang.
Ms. Trang, as well as the school teachers and parents whose children are studying at De Ar Kindergarten, all hope that the local government and the owner of the weighing station will soon take measures to prevent dust and noise so that the students can have peaceful and healthy school days.
Speaking to reporters, Ms. Do Thi Thanh Van, Chairman of the People's Committee of De Ar Commune, said: "In the commune, there are currently 4 weighing stations purchasing agricultural products from 3 business households. In terms of legal documents, the above weighing stations are not qualified to operate. However, due to the specific situation of the locality where people mainly grow cassava, the local government also creates conditions for the weighing stations to operate in order to promptly purchase agricultural products and cassava for people to achieve the highest price and quality."
Regarding the current situation of overloaded vehicles operating at high intensity, causing traffic insecurity and damaging roads in the area, the Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: "Not only the vehicles transporting noodles but also the vehicles transporting sugarcane from Ayun Pa town also pass through here. The authority of the Commune People's Committee cannot intervene in the process of handling overloaded vehicles. The Commune hopes that the Traffic Police, the Department of Construction, and other sectors will take serious action to reduce the situation of overloaded vehicles."
