Quang Ngai After four years of passing a resolution to collect fees but not implementing them due to the pandemic, the government of Ly Son island district proposed to collect fees in 2024.
The draft project to collect entrance fees to scenic spots, historical sites, cultural works, and museums in Ly Son was submitted by the People's Committee of Ly Son district to collect opinions from departments and units on the afternoon of November 29.

According to the draft, the entrance fee to scenic spots, historical relics, cultural works, and museums on Big Island is 80,000 VND per person per visit, including the Cau Cave, Flagpole, Thoi Loi Mountain, Hang Pagoda, To Vo Gate, and Gieng Tien Volcano with entrance fees of 20,000 VND per cluster. The Hoang Sa Fleet Exhibition House, which manages Bac Hai, and the Exhibition House of the largest whale skeleton in Vietnam have entrance fees of 10,000 VND. The entrance fee to Small Island is 20,000 VND.
To collect fees, the district government will arrange ticket counters at Ben Dinh port and counters and staff on duty at tourist attractions.
Children under 6 years old, people with severe disabilities, Ly Son residents, officials, civil servants, armed forces in Ly Son or on the mainland on business trips to the island are exempted from fees.
According to Mr. Le Van Ninh, Standing Vice Chairman of Ly Son District, in July 2019, the People's Council of Quang Ngai Province issued a resolution regulating the collection rates, collection, payment, management and use of fees for visiting scenic spots, historical sites, cultural works and museums on the island district. However, due to the impact of Covid-19, the locality has not yet organized the implementation. Therefore, the district has coordinated to collect opinions to advise the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the People's Council a new draft resolution.

Compared to the old project, Ly Son district has added a new entrance fee collection point at the whale skeleton exhibition house, increased the entrance fee to Big Island from 70,000 VND to 80,000 VND and reduced the entrance fee to Small Island from 30,000 VND per turn to 20,000 VND per turn.
The fee collection is expected to be implemented in 2024, after approval by the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Council. The fee collection aims to generate revenue for the locality to restore and embellish relics and protect the environment.
