On his personal podcast, Luong Xuan Truong shared the story of how coach Park Hang Seo built his playing style during his early days leading the Vietnam national team and Vietnam U23 team. The midfielder, born in 1995, expressed his impression of the way coach Park focused on small details in defense, and revealed that this is something that Vietnamese football still lacks and not all players are trained from a young age.

“The football philosophy of coach Park Hang Seo and assistant Lee Young Jin leans towards defensive counter-attacks. Especially at the beginning, the teachers prioritize building a solid defense, prioritizing not losing before thinking about winning. Very small details such as defensive stance, standing position, and how to read situations are all thoroughly conveyed. In general, these are details that very few coaches delve into teaching.

Personally, I think these are the things that are really lacking in Vietnamese football. In Korea or Japan, these are basic details that every player has learned when they were in the U13 and U15 groups. But in Vietnam, players do not learn such detailed things" - Luong Xuan Truong said.

Luong Xuan Truong also affirmed that Coach Park Hang Seo does not advocate extreme defensive play, but has a plan to control the tempo of the match. More importantly, Coach Park understands the typical characteristics of the Vietnamese people such as solidarity, indomitable will, intelligence, agility, and diligence to build a suitable playing style for the team.

“Coach Park Hang Seo builds a disciplined and tight playing style, but in terms of attack, he is not strict, restrictive, or demanding too much simplicity. Technical players like Cong Phuong or Quang Hai can still freely create” – Luong Xuan Truong shared.

However, Luong Xuan Truong frankly said that Coach Park Hang Seo's philosophy is quite old compared to Korean football in 2018. Because Coach Park belongs to the classic generation, but now Korean football sets higher requirements and plays more modernly.

The player from Tuyen Quang commented: "For me, when put in the context of Vietnamese football at that time (2018), the way Coach Park worked and applied his philosophy was extremely wise and correct."
