Taste Atlas - a Croatia-based online travel guide specializing in traditional cuisine around the world, has just announced a list of the 100 best street foods in Asia, with many representatives from Vietnam.
Accordingly, in the list of the famous website, banh mi (4th) is the highest ranked Vietnamese dish. This website praises banh mi as the "heritage" of Vietnamese cuisine. Taste Atlas commented that in each region, Vietnamese banh mi has different fillings but the common point is that they are all sandwiched in crispy golden French baguettes. Baguettes were introduced to Vietnam by the French in the 20th century, but it was the creativity and variation of the people here that made this dish famous all over the world.

The most popular version of banh mi has a filling of pate made from pork liver served with pork sausage, shredded pickled carrots, coriander, sauce and a few other ingredients. Visitors can also find banh mi with grilled meat. The crispy crust and fresh ingredients in the filling will bring diners an unforgettable experience. Two other versions of banh mi from Vietnam are also highly appreciated by TasteAtlas, respectively: banh mi thit (ranked 22nd, 4.5/5 stars) and banh mi heo quay (ranked 47th, 4.4/5 stars). Another famous representative of Vietnam, 'pho', is also on the list this time. The rich flavor of the broth combined with soft but chewy pho noodles with beef or chicken will leave a lasting impression on diners. In addition, a series of 'national Vietnamese dishes' such as broken rice, spring rolls or banh xeo are also honored by Taste Atlas as the best street foods in Asia. This ranking was conducted by Taste Atlas based on readers' opinions, as of April 2024, with the aim of promoting local specialties, arousing pride in traditional dishes and curiosity about dishes that foreign tourists have never tried.According to Taste Atlas
