The World's 100 Best Foods is a list that TasteAtlas usually publishes at the end of the year. This year's results are based on 367,847 valid reviews of 11,258 dishes around the world.
Immediately after its announcement, the list caused great controversy.
The New York Post even ran a provocative headline: "Food Wars! The world's 100 best dishes come from all over, but two major countries are absent."
According to the New York Post , this is a subjective ranking; because sometimes this dish is nothing to one person but a "treasure" to another. Despite the controversy, TasteAtlas still released the list of the 100 most delicious dishes in the world in 2024.
"How could they publish such a divisive list? Americans may be proud of some of the items on the list but sadly the UK has none," the paper wrote.

Topping the list is Colombian lechona with 5.78 stars. The dish consists of marinated pork, peas, onions… stuffed into salted pork skin.
Because it takes a long time to prepare, this dish often appears at reunions or special occasions, holidays such as Christmas, New Year and festivals.
Neapolitan Pizza - Photo: TasteAtlas
Coming in second is the Neapolitan pizza (Napoletana) with 4.75 stars. This is an iconic creation of Italian cuisine, believed to have originated in the early 1700s.
Authentic Pizza Napoletana is made with a few simple ingredients and comes in two flavors. One is marinara topped with tomato sauce flavored with garlic and oregano; the other is margherita topped with tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil—a combination whose colors are said to represent the Italian flag.
Brazilian picanha - Photo: TasteAtlas
Next is the Brazilian picanha with 4.69 stars. The cut of meat chosen for this steak is the rump.
Out of about 5kg of beef rump, people only use 1.5kg to make picanha steak. This "selected" part of meat is low in fat and firm. Therefore, it must be grilled properly so that the meat is not tough.
This dish is quite expensive so it is not really popular. When eating, the chef will directly cut the meat at the table so that diners can enjoy the hot dish.
Also in the top 10 are Algeria's traditional rechta, Thailand's Panang curry, Argentina's Asado meat, Turkey's Çökertme kebabı, Indonesia's Rawon beef soup, Türkiye's kebab, and Ethiopian tibs.
Vietnam's beef pho comes in at number 93 on this list with 4.4 stars.
