In 2024, the Gifted High School will organize a 10th grade exam on May 25-26 to select 595 students.
According to today's announcement, the Gifted High School, Ho Chi Minh City National University, said the enrollment target is similar to last year, but the number of students in each class group has changed.
The school recruits 7 specialized classes at the District 5 campus, including Math, IT, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and Literature, down 3 compared to last year. Meanwhile, the number of specialized interdisciplinary classes in Thu Duc City increased from 7 to 10: Math, Literature and English each have two classes, the remaining one. Each class has no more than 35 students.
The school said that the output standards in specialized classes emphasize the development of academic capacity . Students have early access to specialized knowledge at high school and university levels, orienting their talent development towards key scientific fields at higher levels of education.
Interdisciplinary specialized classes focus on developing interdisciplinary thinking skills through career experiences, orienting talent development in areas of economic and social life.
Candidates must take four compulsory exams. Math, Literature and English are the three general subjects, taking place on May 25; the specialized subjects are tested on May 26. Candidates can register for up to two specialized subjects, as long as the exam schedules do not overlap.
Candidates who register for a specialized class will take the exam for that specialized subject, except for specialized Math which can be used to apply for additional specialized Physics and IT classes; and interdisciplinary IT, Physics, Chemistry, Biology classes.
The admission score for grade 10 at the Gifted High School is the sum of the scores of four exams, in which the specialized subject is multiplied by a factor of two. For specialized classes that accept two combinations, based on the exam results and the number of applications, the school will decide the admission score corresponding to each combination.
The Gifted High School opens registration from May 2 to 5:00 p.m. on May 9. The exam fee is 150,000 VND/subject and 50,000 VND/preference. Candidates will pay the fee through the online registration system, no bank transfer.
Tuition fees of the Gifted High School for the 2024-2025 school year for specialized classes are 1.5 million VND/month and 2.65 million VND/month for interdisciplinary specialized classes, including boarding fees.

The Gifted High School was established in 1996 and is a specialized school under the National University of Ho Chi Minh City. This is the only school in Ho Chi Minh City that organizes its own entrance exam, independent of the 10th grade entrance exam of the Department of Education and Training.
Last year, the school received nearly 3,100 applications for the 10th grade entrance exam, making the competition ratio up to 1/5.1 - the highest in the past 5 years. The benchmark score is about 22.5-28.5 for interdisciplinary specialized classes, 22.5-33 for specialized classes.
