Ninh Binh Tourism Week 2024 with the theme "The Golden Color of Tam Coc - Trang An" is a special, annual tourism event of Ninh Binh province. This is one of the attractive and meaningful activities in the series of events responding to the 10th Anniversary of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage (2014-2024).
The highlight of the Tam Coc-Trang An Golden Festival is the procession on the river with the participation of 63 boats carrying typical products from regions across the country as offerings to the God of Agriculture, while also honoring the beauty of farming of farmers in the Northern Delta in general and Ninh Binh people in particular.
According to legend, Shennong is the legendary king of farmers, the founder of wet rice cultivation, who invented plowing tools and taught the people of the plains how to cultivate. The worship of Shennong has therefore become a unique cultural feature of the residents of the wet rice civilization for many generations. Agricultural residents believe that worshiping Shennong is a way to express gratitude to the founder of agriculture, and at the same time pray for the God to grant favorable weather and good crops.
The Tam Coc-Trang An Golden Festival program begins its journey from Tam Coc Wharf to Ba Cave, upstream of Ngo Dong River, leading to the origin of farming. Next, visitors can immerse themselves in the joyful, bustling, and fruitful atmosphere of farmers, experience harvesting rice on the golden fields, and admire the artistic fields depicting the folk painting "Shepherd Playing the Flute". Visitors can also visit the space recreating the primitive farming methods and the rice production process of the Vietnamese people.
At Ba Suoi Tien cave area, provincial leaders, delegates and people performed incense offering rituals and offered typical agricultural products of Ninh Binh and other regions in the country to the worship space of Than Nong.
Through the Festival, people and tourists will understand more about the history of ancient agriculture here, the traditional culture of the nation, thereby contributing to preserving and promoting profound human values that have been preserved for thousands of years.
