In addition, within the framework of the festival, there are also cultural spaces of 3 ethnic groups: Thai, Mong, Kho Mu; booths introducing and promoting cuisine; "Fragrance of Dien Bien" culinary competition; pa pao throwing performance; kayak racing on Pa Khoang lake; green banh chung wrapping contest; ethnic sports competitions...
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Chairman of Dien Bien Phu City People's Committee Nguyen Quang Hung said that the organization of the cherry blossom festival clearly demonstrates the direction of Dien Bien tourism, linking tourism development with cultural preservation; considering culture as the foundation to promote the development of typical tourism types in the province. At the same time, it demonstrates innovation in thinking and working methods to build new, unique and attractive tourism products, contributing to promoting tourism development, contributing to the overall socio-economic development of Dien Bien province.
Right after the opening program is a special art program with the theme "Spring in Muong Village - Cherry Blossoms in Bloom".
The program includes 3 chapters: Impressions of the border region; Fragrance and color of cherry blossoms; Aspiration and Development. The performances include artists and actors from professional art units of the Central and Dien Bien province; mass art troupes and people in Dien Bien Phu city...
The art performances carry the traditional cultural colors of Dien Bien province in particular and Vietnam in general, praising the love of homeland and country through the art of singing and dancing, with commentary connecting the performances based on the consistent content of the program.
In 2024, with the activities of the National Tourism Year associated with the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, it created a strong attraction for Dien Bien to welcome the highest number of tourists for the first time, reaching more than 1.85 million visitors, far exceeding the plan (the plan was 1.3 million visitors), of which international tourists reached 11,500. Total revenue from tourism activities reached more than 3,321 billion VND (the plan was 2,200 billion VND), contributing significantly to promoting economic, cultural and social development, ensuring national defense and security, expanding foreign relations, bringing the GRDP growth of Dien Bien province in 2024 to more than 10%...
The Cherry Blossom Festival - Dien Bien Phu in 2025 is the beginning of activities to celebrate the political events of the country and the province in 2025; welcome the new year 2025 and look forward to welcoming the Party Congresses at all levels. The festival is also an opportunity to promote the image of the people and homeland of Dien Bien, attract and call on investors and tourists to come to Dien Bien to learn about the potential for investment cooperation, trade and tourism.
