The 20th Ethnic Culture Festival and Traditional Costume Show of Thanh Hoa Province in 2024 (hereinafter referred to as the festival) took place at Lam Son Square (Thanh Hoa City) from the evening of March 8 to the evening of March 9. With a spirit of readiness for the festival, the mass art troupes all showed careful preparation in terms of content, costumes and performance props.
Up to now, the festival has been held 20 times, but each time participating units have the same excitement, mixed with nervousness and anxiety. Participating in this festival, Hau Loc district unit performed the Cheo singing performance "Proud of Thanh land", with the participation of 30 members from the intergenerational clubs of Hung Loc commune.
To bring the public a unique performance, bearing the mark of Hau Loc land, for more than 2 weeks before the opening of the festival, the members of the club have started practicing. In a quick exchange with us before going on stage to perform, Mr. Le Thanh Tung (member of the Intergenerational Club of Tien Long village, Hung Loc commune) said: This is the first time the Intergenerational Clubs of the commune representing Hau Loc district have participated in the festival. For us, this is both an honor and a great pride. However, this is the first time we have participated in the festival, so we feel very nervous, especially when witnessing many elaborately staged, unique performances, demonstrating professionalism. Perhaps, not only for us, but for all the units participating in the festival, this is truly a meaningful "cultural meeting place", a bond connecting ethnic groups and localities in the province. Here, we have the opportunity to exchange, learn and be a source of motivation for the mass art teams to constantly try and make more efforts in the future.
Coming to this festival, the participating units all try to contribute a unique and distinctive "color" to create the unique and special thing of Thanh culture. In particular, Dong Son district unit brings the performance "Ngu tro Vien Khe", with the participation of 40 artisans and extras from Vien Khe 1 village, Dong Khe commune.
Unable to hide her pride and emotion, artist Le Thi Canh said: Although we have participated in many festivals, before the performance, witnessing the preparations of the units in the province, and especially getting closer to the audience, we could truly imagine a colorful and impressive festival. Besides, I and other artists also wondered how to bring Ngu Tro Vien Khe closer to the younger generation.
No less attractive than the folk art program, performing traditional cultural rituals, games, and folk performances is the competition of traditional costumes of Thanh Hoa province's ethnic groups. According to the evaluation of the organizing committee, the competition has shown the elaborate and serious staging from commentary, explanation, performance style to background music. Many ethnic costumes are designed with bright colors associated with the daily life and philosophy of the ethnic people.
It can be said that the music, dances in the unique and impressive cultural space or the traditional costumes of the ethnic groups of Thanh Hoa have contributed to promoting and honoring traditional cultural values, enriching the spiritual life of the people of the ethnic groups in the province. Thereby bringing to the festival a unified cultural picture in diversity. After the festival, we believe that the artisans and mass actors from localities in the province will have more motivation to do better in their role of building grassroots cultural life, preserving and promoting intangible cultural values. Thereby contributing to "Building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity".
