Has the mission of developing tourism human resources for the region
Hue College of Tourism, formerly Hue Vocational High School of Tourism, was established under Decision No. 316/QD-TCDL dated October 28, 1999 of the General Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, now the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism. From 1999 to March 2008, the school was a public service unit under the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism; from April 2008 to present, it has been under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, located in Thua Thien Hue province.
In the early days of its establishment, Hue College of Tourism had the mission of training and developing tourism human resources for the central and Central Highlands provinces. Now the school is entering a period of development to prepare for the strategy of changing the economic structure, making tourism a key economic sector of Thua Thien Hue province in particular and many provinces, cities and regions in general.
According to the Principal of Hue College of Tourism, Mr. Pham Ba Hung, by the 2024-2025 school year, the school has trained 25 intermediate courses with nearly 4,000 students, 17 college courses with more than 4,200 students and hundreds of elementary courses with more than 1,800 students, providing regular training for 8,000 students. After graduation, students have been highly appreciated by businesses for their knowledge, style, attitude and professional skills. Some excellent students have been accepted to work by businesses immediately after graduation.

In addition, the school is a training facility for tourism teachers for the following schools: Can Tho Tourism College, Da Nang Tourism College, Nghe An Culture and Tourism College, Bac Kan Vocational College, teachers of vocational schools in Quang Binh province; Lux-Dev project ordered training for 18 teachers for tourism schools in Myanmar and trained 64 teachers from Laos.
In the 2024-2025 school year, the school enrolled 426 students. Compared to the same period in the 2023-2024 school year, the number of students enrolled increased by 42.5%; of which, college increased by 35%, intermediate increased by 20.8% and intermediate with cultural studies increased by 70.8%.

Training high quality human resources for the tourism industry
According to Mr. Pham Ba Hung, to successfully achieve the above goal, Hue College of Tourism will synchronously implement the following tasks: Continue to thoroughly grasp and implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW of the 11th Party Central Committee "On fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training, meeting the requirements of industrialization and modernization in the conditions of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration". Effectively implement assigned tasks in conjunction with implementing Resolution 54 of the Politburo to soon upgrade Thua Thien Hue province to a centrally-run city with Tourism as a key economic sector and high-quality training as an important task.
Continue to improve the organizational structure, improve the capacity and quality of the teaching staff and management staff to perform tasks effectively and economically in accordance with professional standards and job positions as prescribed and in accordance with the criteria and roadmap of high-quality schools. Improve training quality and develop training brands. Innovate training programs towards capacity-based, advanced and internationally integrated approaches. Maintain and develop relationships with businesses, promote the results of international cooperation agreements.

Speaking at the ceremony, the leader of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong acknowledged and praised the achievements of the school's teachers and students over the years, which have contributed greatly to the development of the country's tourism. "Over the past 25 years, Hue College of Tourism has graduated many generations of students, providing abundant and high-quality human resources for tourism in Hue and the Central and Central Highlands regions. Hopefully, the collective of cadres, lecturers, teachers, and employees of the school will unite for the goal of developing the school and contributing to the training of high-quality human resources for the tourism industry; students will strive to achieve graduate results in study and research.
Deputy Minister Ho An Phong said that in the planning of Vietnam's tourism system to 2030, with a vision to 2045, there are very specific requirements, in which to achieve the goal of welcoming 35 million international visitors by 2030, it requires a large number of high-quality tourism human resources, very high requirements... "Therefore, each cadre, teacher, student of Hue College of Tourism must make efforts, keep up with the times, take shortcuts to seize development opportunities. The school needs to be united, unified, and build a streamlined and efficient apparatus. Strengthen the construction of increasingly better facilities; students must strive to study, be good at one profession and know many professions", Deputy Minister Ho An Phong emphasized.
