Strong qualitative change
In recent years, the collective economy and cooperative economy of the province have changed dramatically in quality due to the implementation of the new cooperative model. The cooperative economy is no longer limited to one type of service but has developed in the direction of diversified services, financial transparency, and extensive linkages to create a strong collective economy with diverse products and its own brands, making an important contribution to the province's agricultural and forestry commodity production. In particular, the collective economy and cooperative economy have received more attention from young people, many young people have chosen the path of developing cooperatives to start successful businesses.
Mr. Bui Van Hoang, Dong Phai village, Hop Hoa commune (Son Duong) has successfully started his business by establishing Hop Hoa Agricultural and Forestry Production and Processing Service Cooperative, associated with the development and expansion of raw material areas for growing Solanum procumbens. The Cooperative not only helps households have a stable income but also converts alluvial land and poor rice land into effective medicinal plant cultivation.
Mr. Luong Van Tu, Lien Thang village, Quyet Thang commune said: "I wanted to convert a hectare of land that had been growing cassava for many years to another crop, but because the land was no longer good, it was not suitable for fruit trees. When I learned that Solanum procumbens was suitable and that there was a cooperative that would guarantee the output, my family planted it right away. For the past 2 years, this hectare of land has brought my family an income of 100 million VND/year, an economic efficiency 4 times higher than before."
Leaders of the Provincial Cooperative Union visited the leather shoe component manufacturing factory of Quang Minh Tea Cooperative.
Director of Hop Hoa Agricultural and Forestry Production and Processing Service Cooperative, Bui Van Hoang shared: "The Cooperative has 13 members and more than 50 households associated with growing 40 hectares of Solanum procumbens, creating jobs for 100 agricultural workers in 3 communes of Hop Hoa, Van Phu, Quyet Thang (Son Duong). The Cooperative's Solanum procumbens tea bag product has achieved 4-star OCOP, in addition, the Cooperative has developed additional Solanum procumbens extract products.
The cooperative's products are available on all social media platforms and e-commerce sites. The cooperative's revenue has just reached over 300 million VND/year. From now until the end of 2025, the cooperative will expand its scale by investing in factories and processing machines to produce more suitable and convenient products for the market."
Director of Quang Minh Tea Cooperative (Yen Son) Pham Dinh Huynh informed: "In recent years, the black tea export market has narrowed, the price is low so there is no profit, only production to maintain the 30ha raw material area and income for 1,000 tea-growing households, jobs for workers. To develop, we have to find other directions. In 2022, the Cooperative cooperated with J-STAR VINA Tuyen Quang Co., Ltd. to invest in a leather shoe factory in Tu Quan commune (Yen Son) with an investment capital of over 100 billion VND, factory scale of 6,000m2 .
Currently, the factory creates jobs for 1,000 workers who are members and children of farmers, of which over 85% are female; the income of workers at the factory has reached 7 - 9 million VND/month. The revenue of the cooperative has reached nearly 30 billion VND in 2023. From the association, the cooperative has grown strongly and profitably. From 2023 to August 2024, it has supported 5 poor households to eliminate temporary houses with an amount of 250 million VND. This was previously difficult to do."
Along with cooperatives developing multi-services, many cooperatives have changed technology, applied high technology to production, chain production, and service business lines to meet the increasing demands of the market. Typical examples include Tien Thanh high-tech agricultural cooperative; Sang Nhung clean agricultural products cooperative, Dong Tho commune, Ngan Son Trung Long organic tea, Trung Yen commune (Son Duong); 168 tea cooperative, Lang Bat tea cooperative, Tan Thanh commune (Ham Yen); Ngoc Thuy organic specialty tea cooperative, Phu Lam ward (Tuyen Quang city); Thai Shan Tuyet Hong tea cooperative (Na Hang)...
