Long Coc is one of the communes with the largest tea growing area in Tan Son district. The vast green tea hills here are like a highlight for the prosperity of the Dat To tea region. In recent years, along with the development of tourism associated with tea hills, the commune government has encouraged people to gradually build the Long Coc tea brand into a typical product, creating a good impression for tourists when they set foot in this semi-mountainous area.
Long Coc tea is hand-picked early in the morning when it is still dewy, avoiding harsh sunlight so the tea does not wither and lose its sweetness.
Director of Long Coc Safe Tea Production Cooperative Pham Thi Hanh said: The cooperative was established in 2018 with 20 member households; currently has 37 hectares of tea, of which 12 hectares are VietGAP certified. To have tea buds that meet the standards, cooperative members have used manual harvesting methods. Tea is picked by hand in the early morning, when there is still dew (around 5-9 am) to avoid harsh sunlight so that the tea does not wither and lose its sweetness. After harvesting, the tea is classified and roasted many times at high temperatures to curl the tea leaves and dry the buds, while ensuring quality and preserving the characteristic natural flavor. To improve productivity and product value, the cooperative has invested in machinery and equipment for tea production and processing with a capacity of 3-4 tons of fresh tea/day, creating stable jobs for 10 regular workers with an income of 4-6 million VND/person/month.

In order to improve the quality and economic value of tea trees, in recent times, in addition to effectively implementing agricultural development policies of the province and district; local authorities have also actively coordinated with specialized units to provide specific advice to local entities to complete documents, register barcodes, traceability stamps... build specialty tea brands; coordinate to organize training programs to improve capacity in trade promotion, advertising, introducing, and developing tea tourism products and services for production facilities and tea cooperatives in the area.
Currently, the commune has 4 OCOP products from tea, including: Long Coc premium Bat Tien Tea, Bat Tien Dinh Tea, Dinh specialty Tea (4-star OCOP), Shan Tuyet Tea (3-star OCOP), all belonging to Long Coc safe tea production cooperative. These products are widely consumed in most provinces and cities in the country and supermarkets of Winmart, Coopmart systems... Long Coc tea when brewed usually has a light green color and is very clear, giving a natural aroma, with all three flavors of bitterness, astringency, and sweetness mixed together, easy to drink, and a deep aftertaste. With the attention of all levels and sectors, the efforts and consensus of local authorities and people, in the coming time, Long Coc specialty tea products will continue to expand, bringing economic value and pride to the people in the mountainous commune of Tan Son.
