Kien Giang: Many activities to commemorate the 156th anniversary of the sacrifice of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc

From September 28 to 30 (26 to 28 of the 8th lunar month), in Rach Gia City (Kien Giang), a traditional festival will take place to commemorate the 156th anniversary of the death of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc (1868 - 2024).

Many people participated in festival activities commemorating the 156th anniversary of the sacrifice of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc.

This year, the ceremony was held according to traditional rituals including: Incense-lighting ceremony at the stele marking the place where national hero Nguyen Trung Truc was executed by the French in 1868; incense-offering ceremony at Nguyen Trung Truc monument park. Traditional rituals such as raising the flag, incense, the main altar, the rear altar... were held at Nguyen Trung Truc Communal House and the incense-offering ceremony at Nguyen Trung Truc monument park.

The festival is held from August 17 to October 4, with main activities such as: Southern amateur music space stage; Kien Giang Wanderlust Marathon 2024; 29th Regional Fine Arts Exhibition VIII (Mekong Delta) 2014; forum connecting OCOP products in the Mekong Delta; exhibition of art photos "Kien Giang - Country - People"; exhibition, introduction and promotion of tourism, business brand products...

Within the framework of the festival, Rach Gia City People's Committee also organizes fair activities, lion and dragon dance performances, flower car parades, bird singing contests, ornamental plant displays, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Van Sau, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang province, said that the traditional festival commemorating the sacrifice of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc is held annually in Rach Gia city to show gratitude to ancestors, promote traditional cultural values, and at the same time educate the tradition of patriotism for everyone, especially the young generation.
