Groundbreaking ceremony of VSICO Quang Tri Dry Port Project at Lao Bao International Border Gate

This morning, March 25, at Lao Bao International Border Gate, Huong Hoa District, VSICO Maritime Joint Stock Company held a groundbreaking ceremony for the VSICO Quang Tri Dry Port Project. Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong; Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Chien Thang; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien attended.

VSICO Quang Tri Dry Port Project is invested in Lao Bao International Border Gate area; the project has a usable area of ​​85,782 ^m2 , total investment of 236 billion VND; the investor is VSICO Maritime Joint Stock Company.

VSICO Quang Tri Dry Port is designed with a cargo clearance capacity of 3.5 million tons/year, of which container cargo output is 100,000 TEU/year; bulk cargo output is 1,000,000 tons/year; annual revenue is estimated at 200 billion VND, contributing 25 billion VND to the state budget.

VSICO Quang Tri Dry Port Area is designed with 8 operational sub-areas including a general management office of 8,730 ^m2 , including tax, customs, banking services, offices of shipping companies, living areas for officers and employees; a container yard of 38,787 ^m2 with a capacity of 250,000 tons of cargo; an internal traffic system; a warehouse of 13,100 ^m2 ; a fuel supply area of ​​2,446 ^m2 , a repair and maintenance workshop for vehicles and mining equipment of 2,998 ^m2 ; a technical infrastructure area of ​​1,282 ^m2 ; a parking lot and equipment assembly area of ​​2,446 ^m2 .

The dry port area is invested with 5 cargo handling cranes, 5 bulk cargo leveling equipment, 2 weighing stations; maximum receiving capacity of 1,000 vehicles per day for export and import; the project will officially come into operation in the first quarter of 2026.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong emphasized: Currently, the demand for transporting goods on the East-West Economic Corridor route through Quang Tri seaports and seaports in the Central region is increasing.

Therefore, the investment in construction and completion of a synchronous transport infrastructure system, including a dry port system, has become a very urgent issue. At the same time, it expressed great trust and expectations for businesses that have decided to invest in Quang Tri province.

In order for the project to be completed on schedule, the Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the investor to be more proactive, positive, and determined, to arrange sufficient human resources, mobilize materials and equipment; develop a specific and methodical construction plan to ensure feasibility, on schedule, high quality, and ensure labor safety and environmental sanitation according to regulations. Determined to strive to complete and put into operation phase 1 of the project by the first quarter of 2026, in order to soon promote investment efficiency, serving the socio-economic development of the locality.

Request the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, departments, branches, forces at Lao Bao International Border Gate, and local leaders to coordinate smoothly, synchronously, and effectively to promptly handle arising difficulties and problems, and support investors.

After completion and operation, VSICO Quang Tri Dry Port Project will create jobs for many local workers, contribute to ensuring social security and welfare, promote the development of service industries, accelerate the urbanization process and build new rural areas, and improve the quality of life of people in the area.

Therefore, we request the people of Lao Bao town and local government officials to promote the spirit for the development of their homeland Quang Tri to continue to accompany, support, help, and create the best conditions for investors and partners to soon complete the project.
