On the evening of December 19 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Information and Communications held the Award Ceremony for the Photo and Video Contest “Happy Vietnam”. This is the first time a Photo and Video Contest on the topic of human rights in Vietnam has been organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications online through the Vietnam image promotion platform – https://vietnam.vn.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung said that the photo and video contest "Happy Vietnam" was launched in June 2023. After 4 months, the contest attracted the participation of more than 7,000 photo and video works. From there, the Organizing Committee selected 28 works for awards and 70 photo works, 14 video works for exhibition.

On the platform https://vietnam.vn, there have been over 90 million views of these 7,000 works, of which over 40% are from abroad. Some works have been viewed by over half a million people. These are very large numbers, surprising even the organizers.

Each work is a unique perspective, a unique moment, an interesting story, a beauty, a reflection that life, that Heaven and Earth bestow upon humans, if not recorded at that exact moment, at that exact place, it will be lost. And if it is not recorded, it will be a loss.

“The greatest strength is always the strength of the people. The greatest creativity is always the creativity of the people. The most powerful vitality is always the vitality of the people. 7,000 photos and videos of Vietnamese people across the country are vivid proof of the strength, creativity and vitality of the people. Digital technology and digital platforms have created conditions for every citizen, no matter where they are, with a smartphone and 4G/5G coverage, to be creative and to contribute their voice to creating a Vietnam of the people.” – The Minister emphasized.

This is an opportunity for people across the country, overseas Vietnamese and international friends to express their love for their homeland and country and their passion in creating photos and videos to promote the image of Vietnam and its people to the world, arousing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy nation; promoting cultural values ​​and the strength of the Vietnamese people in the new era.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee announced and awarded prizes to 28 winning works of the photo and video contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam 2023". The first prize in the photo category went to the work "Flying Up to Vietnam" by author Bui Cuong Quyet; the first prize in the video category went to the work "Da Nang - City of Biodiversity" by author Nguyen Thanh Paven.

Second prize in the photo category went to Catalin Chitu with the work “Skyscraper Shrouded in Clouds”. Second prize in the video category went to Catalin Chitu with the work “Nha Trang, the sea calls”.

Third prize in the photo category went to author Hieu Minh Vu with the work “A bumper crop of red tangerines”. Third prize in the video category went to author Le Tan Thanh with the work “Growing flax, weaving - traditional cultural identity of the Mong people”.

The Organizing Committee also awarded 20 Consolation prizes for two categories of photos and videos.

The most voted award for the photo category went to author Luong Sy Phu with the work “Joy when working at TH”. The most voted award for the video category went to Pham Mina and Mui Khanh Ly with the work exploring the H'mong village in Hua Tai, Moc Chau, Son La.

The contest is a vivid demonstration of the deep concern and consistent policy of our Party and State towards the work of caring for the material and spiritual life of the people, taking the people as the center, in the spirit of "Leaving no one behind" and creating all favorable conditions for people to participate, contribute, promote their capacity and intelligence in the cause of building, developing, protecting the Fatherland and international integration of the country.
