Many foreigners participate in the photo and video contest 'Happy Vietnam 2024'

On December 5, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) held a press conference to inform about the opening ceremony of the exhibition and announce the awards for the “Happy Vietnam 2024” Photo and Video Contest. Notably, this year's contest has 581 international authors and 265 Vietnamese authors abroad participating.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of External Information (Ministry of Information and Communications), said: After nearly 7 months of launching (from March 20, 2024 to the deadline for receiving works on October 15, 2024), the contest has attracted a total of 6,863 authors, with 10,327 photo and video works, including 9,657 photo works and 670 video works. Among the participating authors, there are 581 international authors, 265 Vietnamese authors abroad, with nearly 1,000 works and more than 50% of the authors have participated in the 2023 contest.

“There is no summary yet, but through personal assessment, the angles of the photos of foreign authors are simple, capturing life as it is happening. The authors focus on capturing the beautiful scenery of Vietnam, the countryside, the ordinary people they meet in life, or the antiquity towards sustainability...”, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan shared at the press conference. Mr. Nguyen Vu Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of International Organizations (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) commented: The photos and videos participating in the contest are of high quality, topical, and serve well for foreign propaganda work. According to Mr. Minh, next year's contest, the organizing committee should have a "small branch" dedicated to authors living abroad. At the same time, the contest also creates opportunities for people nationwide, overseas Vietnamese and international friends to express their love for their homeland and country and their enthusiasm in creating photos and videos to promote the image of the country and Vietnamese people to the world, arousing the desire to develop a prosperous and happy nation; promoting cultural values ​​and the strength of the Vietnamese people in the new era. After many days of serious and fair work, the Jury and Organizing Committee selected 60 videos and 150 excellent photos to display at the exhibition, of which 34 best works were awarded. The total value of the prizes for both photo and video categories is up to nearly 400 million VND, including: 2 Gold Medals; 4 Silver Medals; 6 Bronze Medals and 20 Encouragement Prizes. Prize value: Gold Medal 70 million VND; Silver Medal 20 million VND; Bronze Medal 10 million VND; Consolation prize of 5 million VND and other secondary prizes. After the award ceremony, the selected works will continue to be exhibited domestically and internationally, serving the communication and promotion of Vietnam's achievements in ensuring human rights in 2025.
